Spotting of AlSal at the Arkansas Qualifier meet yesterday. Appeared to be coaching one of the nations best high schoolers that raced the mile there that day. Might be getting taken care of by Nike still even though he is banned.

He is getting old and should act like a retired person. Set his career aside and spend the next 10 or 20 years doing a retirement hobby, i.e. something else he always wanted to do besides run or coach.
He could become a spelunker and go around exploring caves, that sounds like fun.
Despite all the sexual assault allegations, he’s still a phenomenal coach. I would let him coach my kids if the opportunity presented itself. Let him be.

I've sometimes wondered how do you enforce a coaching ban? If you ban a coach you really can't enforce anything beyond what the enforcement reach of the organization that's issued the ban. So you can keep them from attending events but how do you keep them from being in communication with an athlete? What about them using a proxy to do the hands on stuff while they do the actual programming. Do you punish the athlete for consulting a banned coach?

Relax, he is a Fan of Track/Running, Probably enjoying a Meet. He was a fan as well, I read he was at a Race, and he saw a High School Runner watching , and he walked up t him and said aren't you Jon Butler from Edison High School in Huntington Beach, and that is who it was, this was early 1980's, So that he knows what top High Schoolers look like and what school they go to shows he is a fan, at that time he was a Competitor NOT a Coach.
