Was not expecting this. He's always been a staple of international sit and kick 800m races. One of the best tacticians there was in the 800 and had incredible flat speed. If I remember correctly his last few seasons haven't been too rough but maybe he'd just had enough.
About time. Last year he was only the 7th best 800m runner in Poland.
With Dobek moving from 400mH to 1:43 800m and two 18 year olds running 1:44 it is becoming increasingly hard to medal in 800m even in a relatively small country like Poland.
I did not expect him as he's still young. He was an excellent runner, with 6 European titles as well: 3 indoor (2011, 2013, 2017) and 3 outdoor (2014, 2016, 2018). It's a pity he missed the final of the Olympics Games in 2016.
Here are his results from yesterday‘s race in France. I feel sorry he’s retiring because that was a good performance by him yesterday beating two very good French people, B.Robert and G.Tual. Kszczot is 33. He’s had a good run for his money. We wish him luck in his future endeavors.

His last name looks like what one would write if Snoop Dogg tried to pronounce Scott.
Written in the true script of the Slavs it is Кщёт. Much simpler.
This is interesting that you mention that but I believe that in Poland they no longer use the Cyrillic script. I am not even sure if it is optional. In countries like Serbia, and Bosnia, I think both the Cyrillic script and the Latin script are used. I spent a month in the Ukraine in September 2021 and they only use Cyrillic script over there. You’re correct that for consonants, Cyrillic script is quite efficient and user-friendly.
