If you don’t believe that super spikes are making a difference, you’re wrong. We still have a full day or faces ahead too. Might take 7:47 and 3:54 to make NCAA indoors for the men. I remember when German Fernandez ran 7:47 in 2009 and it was an insane performance. Even 2015-2019 sun-7:50 wasn’t that common and only a few guys would do it each year. Not that way anymore.
I am thinking that the spikes are 3-4 seconds per mile. Typically takes 3:58/7:53 to make the meet the last 5-10 years. Are the athletes that much faster? Is the training that much better? I don’t think so.
