I think Teare is dead even on 15/5k ability, but also let’s not forget Hocker beat Teare (both doubling back earlier that day) in the 5k at PAC 12 in 13:18 w/ a 54 last lap. He also got 6th at NCAA’s doubling back from the 1500m. I think Hocker can go mid 13:0x like Teare in a TT. We see Hocker as speed and Teare as endurance, but in actuality they’re very similar ability.
Teare gets ahead of Hocker going into last lap and best Hocker can do is match that lap. Hocker needs to fight him off and stay ahead of him.
This - Teare has better tactics. At both Millrose and Chicago he didn’t close any faster than Hocker, Hocker was just a step behind him already and had to go wide. In the 3K/5K races where Hocker has won there has been less traffic, more time to make the move, etc.

That isn't always true. At NCAA indoors Hocker beat Teare in the last 100m when Teare was ahead. It has happened the majority of the time thus far but it is not always the case.

But that was a slower paced race (tho Hocker was coming off the mile I know). Just like in Pac 12 5,000 - slow pace ==> Hocker outkicks Teare.

Teare needs to realize he’s better in the 1,500/Mile than the 5,000.
I don't know, I can see him running a 12:58-13:03 5k this year.
I've always thought Teare was ahead of Hocker from the moment he ran 13:12 vs 13:18 high for Hocker. But it seems like this performance went completely above the head of everyone.
This is a pretty huge difference of aerobic strength. Which pays when the pace is hot right from the start.

In fairness to Hocker on that one he had run a hard 1500 a little earlier that day, while Teare was fresh.
Slower at the 800 and 1500 but always wins the mile?
they're perfectly matched at 1554.5m
but seriously, like others have said, seems like teare has a better kick off a fast pace, hocker off a slow pace. will be interesting to see what both of them can do in europe this summer
