If that Russian is allowed back in, then we need Shelby back in.

She's underage (15), so it's unclear if she can be sanctioned. Her coaches however...

no. you already let ajee wilson and others off. the russians have a few more to balance the meat excuses out.
Ms. Burrito needs to pay the price !!!
Not to take anything away from figure skating, but it is like a curler testing positive. Speed skating would be different.
No. I don't want a doper representing our country. I'd prefer her ban be permanent

Plus, then all the other countries would want some freebies too, a never ending story.
Bro, 5 spins is better than 4, ya? ya. Work Drugs.
This is a stupid thread but I just want to point out that kamila is a child, and Shelby is a privileged adult who could have pursued anything she wanted but chose to dope and chose to be a runner. So many young kids like kamila and maybe even Ruth jebet may have been manipulated and coerced into doping.
Shelby is so much worse than these people because it was so clearly her choice. Feel like you HAVE to cheat to stay in it? Then it shouldn’t have been worth it and you should walk away.
There was another privileged American athlete who posted a photo recently and I had to roll my eyes. You don’t get that look without some pharma help. But so far so clean I guess.
But yeah, not a ton of empathy for any American adult who dopes
So a non privileged person can dope? She knew she was doping, look up the effects of the drug she took. All athletes who participate in exhibition 'sports' should be allowed to dope regardless. These olympic medals amount to participation medals in weekend 5ks.
Russia does what they want. They're banned from the Olympics now and still send athletes to win medals. Yet we're threatening to boycott the Olympics because of China.

There's as much support for Shelbo's return as there was for Regina Jacobs when she was banned.
Maybe we have the wrong perspective. The basbeallbros have no qualms about the steroid users in their field maybe we should just let it all go.
The fairest outcome would be to continue to Shelby's ban and actually blanket ban Russia (as opposed to banning their flag).

No. Non privileged people shouldn't dope. But there IS a huge difference between someone like Shelby doping and someone like Ruth Jebet or someone like Kamila.
What was frustrating was we slammed the door in Ruth's face when she tested positive and Shelby got a ton of sympathy. It actually should have been the other way around. Speaking of which, did anyone ever locate Ruth? Is she even okay? Alive?
Shelby had more choices and avenues. She chose to dope and now she's choosing to lie about it.
Math and ethics don't mix - two wrongs don't make a right.
Culpability and consequences for a 15 year old and a (then) 28 year old are not equivalent, either.
In Valieva's case, there's a lot we don't know.
What is puzzling is why a sample test which is supposed to take a maximum 10 days took 45 days. The test was for a high-profile athlete known to be competing in the Olympics? Why would this be "gathering dust" in storage?
The result being disclosed just hours after a gold-medal performance also seems strange.
The timing may be coincidental and explainable - but may also indicate hidden agenda or incompetency.
Trimetazidine (TMZ) is primarily abused in endurance and strength events. Performance enhancing effect in figure skating would seem modest - particularly given its significant side effects.
Like many controlled/banned drugs, tests for TMZ do not look for the drug, but associated metabolites. Elimination half life for TMZ is 6 to 7 hours - so it's unclear (to me) how meaningful it is to say she tested clean before and after. Is this a drug whose detection requires regular or lucky testing?

Why do we want cheater Shelby back? Russia can whoever that is back, still don’t want anything to do with Shelby “burrito” Houlihan

"We?" Who the f**k is we? I think you're in the minority here.

She got initially popped in December, then tested positive again on the eve of the Olympics, Russia feigned sanction, which would've stopped her from competing only to reverse course on her appeal and from RUSADAs point of view, allowed to compete, she did, then all of this got out.
This is a result of Bach being a shill for Russia, further propogating and reinforcing Russia's mindset that dopings ok.
The US has no problem sanctioning their doping athletes (Houlihan, Coleman....the best at their disciplines) No such sanctioning would ever happen in Russia....only WADA has successfully sanctioned Russia... despite the IOCs best efforts to subvert WADA from making Putin angry.
Makes you think that Putin must have some pee-tapes leveraging Bach too.
