I always loved Amy Hastings back in the day because she never was a LOOK AT ME athlete. There were many others in her day that were but who falls into that category today?

Centro
Emma Coburn
Bravey, steeple squigs, and a specific few of the tinmen
He's fun to watch, but I definitely think Craig Engles fits into this category. Although, I think his desire for attention can lead him to do cringey things like chugging a beer after running 4:01.
I find Craig Engles so unfunny honestly. At least Centro has actually accomplishments in his career
Kara "I will always be relevant whether I am or not" Goucher. We met in Atlanta at the Trials, barely friendly at all. Maybe she had a bad day, I don't know, but definitely had an uppity attitude.
Met Bernard Lagat and he was the friendliest dude around, smiling and taking photos and conversing without any attitude.
On the other hand, ran into Sarah Sellers on the street, twice. Absolutely a kind appreciative soul. Could not say enough nice things about her.
You kidding? It's Chelimo. I believe the positive spin on it is to say Chelimo has learned how to become more marketable than his peers. But the truth is that he routinely resorts to obnoxious theatrics to obtain the media spotlight.

Craig Engels has massive insecurity issues and is one of my least favorite runners of all time. You do know that other men in their 20's can grow mustaches, right? No need to keep touching your mustache for the camera right before your race. Very strange. He does appeal to a certain percentage of the population and I guess that is why he does it, because it gets him attention. Unfortunately for him most of the attention is negative, but he feeds off of the positive attention he gets, especially from high school girls and boys.
Chelimo performs when it counts though
Imagine framing marketing yourself/your brand as a bad thing.
The answer is this guy in my conference named James. I can't stand that guy!

Did he actually do that? Or is this standard letsrun conflation of two separate events intended to paint an undesirable picture of a person based on multiple unrelated facets of their personality?
Hocker, with his stupid hair and stupid running style.
This is the ultimate thread for jealous and insecure people to come together.

"Look at me" isn't necessarily a bad thing. It really depends on if you like the runner or not. I know a lot of grumps here don't like self-promoters, but it's the way of the world now to get sponsor support.
All the instagram and youtube runners are "look at me"... Symmonds, Demoor, Canaday, etc.

What? Just because she is attractive does not make her a "look at me" type.
I'd really have to give this one to Pappas even over someone like Quigley. She is the ultimate self-promoter who tries to stay relevant way past the time her star has fallen. I have never gotten why anyone finds her interesting. I get the Engels sentiment from some but to me, he's more just someone with a big personality who doesn't recognize when maybe it's best for his mouth not to say what he's thinking. I think our sport would be in a better place if we had a little more personality rather some like Rupp who has the charisma of Mr. Spock.
