No way. FB has cornered the market as the world's largest digital birthday greeting service. They aren't going away any time soon.
I think Myspace was/is superior to Facebook. Idk why the change. But we all have to follow trends or we get left behind.
Facebook will die of old age along with Boomers and Gen X. Younger people use social media differently, don't like Facebook, and see it as a negative online force. I don't know what will replace it long term but, the kids much prefer Tik Tok and I see a lot of my athletes utilizing IG and Strava as their preferred social platform.
Maybe more like a digital Macy's?

Yep, FB is even so far losing favor with Xennials like me (I'm 38), so anyone who's about 35-41 right now.
One can only hope.
Marketplace may be the only thing that keeps it relevant.
I’m in my 60s and just joined FB 5 years ago.. I suppose I’ll join Tik Tok in my 80s.

facebook owns IG...oof, makes me think of them buying out Strava to exploit that data as well...

No way, although I think it will change drastically over the next few years. I mean it had a 1 trillion dollar valuation recently, this is something the world had never seen prior to 2019 or so.
But I wish it would die, I think social media is the modern root of all evil now. In fact I think even LRC should only allow registered posters to post. Maybe even real names only. Anonymity was supposed to be great, but instead it has turned the internet into a hateful cesspool.
face will shrink but it will always have a huge footprint as a photo album keeper
Facebook's thirst for young users about staving off irrelevance. Its platform use among teenagers in the US has been declining for years, and is seems to continue plummeting even further. However, those younger users are, as one poster mentioned above, using other platforms like Tik Tok.
Facebook.com maybe. The company (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Occulus, whatever else they'll acquire) will stick around.
I'm betting on Meta. Plunking down significant $$$$$ if I see another dip in the next few days and weeks.
You are very unlikely to get another chance like this to buy into the company likely leading the charge into Metaverse.
think back to facebook 2006, it was more about having fun, getting to know people, etc. it was a subconscious dating app really. i think nowadays there are too many parents / old fogies on there creeping. places like tik tok are probably more fun. i dunno, i'm an old fogie and pretty much just use FB, strava, and a very limited amount of IG

But Facebook owns Instagram
Maybe Facebook will go the way of friendster!
I quit FB almost 2 years ago, don't miss it a bit. For me, it was too superficial and they really do censor people for a lot of innocuous stuff. I would only use it, now, if I ran a business, as a free advertising source.
