After Jake Brophy became the first midshipman to run sub-4 in the mile, the men seems poised to have 1-2 more do the same this season.
Alex Rizzo and Ashton Briggs
I don’t think that’s too bold of a prediction. I think it’s very very possible.

with that username, you must be a former or current navy runner
🤷♂️
A more accurate username would have been “Almost A Swordfish.”

Former. Only 1 XC season.
Still always a fan though.

what did you do after graduation
Never graduated.
Rizzo in particular looks fantastic. After Matthew's 4:02 as a freshman, while Alex basically ran his high school times, it seemed one brother had pulled away. Now, however, Alex has come on strong, while Matthew remains stagnant (and seemingly injured). A testament to the development by the Navy coach.
Could be 3. Currently Briggs is their third.
Rizzo - 4:00.98
Nelson - 4:03.56
Briggs - 4:06.97
They might have 4 break 8 in the 3k with Mathias, Rizzo, and Nelson. Briggs can probably do it but probably won't race the 3k since he is more of an 800-miler.
I'd argue that they have 3 solid guys, adding David Nelsen to the mix, with a sleeper pick in Mathias. His last two races were masterclasses in racing, every lap got faster and his closing speed after many sedentary laps area a force to be reckoned with
Nelsen goes 3:59.52 at BU to set a new school record.
Rizzo and Briggs closely miss sub-4

yeah that's what happens when Navy has a good coach for once
Somebody had to say it
