What debate? The N.C.A.A. policies regarding transgender athletes have been in place for over 10 years. The ball is in the court of the opponents of the participation of transgender athletes to do something about it.
This is a common sense issue. If we cant win this, we're screwed when it comes to everything else that is a lot easier for them to lie about.
Very far left compared to you guys but this is a pretty straightforward issue.
However, popular opposition is going to have to come from female NCAA athletes, not angry old white guys who also want to argue about bathrooms and drivers licenses, too.
Hard to know how important this is though. Ask every female college athlete if it is a big deal. I have no idea what % cares.
I forgot how accepting black and Hispanic men were of the LGBTQ community.
Unfortunately what we are witnessing is what happens when women are unwilling to fight for themselves.
That sounds harsh, but I understand theres a multitude of reasons including immense social pressure to accept this encroachment on their rights. No one wants to be a TERF, no one wants to be a JK Rowling.

What does fighting for themselves mean? Is it sending a letter to the N.C.A.A., signing a petition or holding a press conference? What happens when the N.C.A A. responds by confirming Thomas' eligibility? Some kind of strike is out of the question. Athletes in other sports or even in other swimming events, wouldn't consider such a thing for even a second.

Yeah but look at who is "fighting" this "battle" politically in both DC and on Letsrun. Old white guys.
I'm lazy.
But few key takeaways off the top of my head.
- Polling showed, even among trans supporters that when it comes to sports basically everyone is against it.. so bad the don't list the poll results.
- They suggest to activist to stop playing the "trans people are victims of hate crimes" because it is having the opposite effect.
- They are trying to piggy pack of racial justice issues , though are worried because it could backfire. due to trans issues being view as a "white issue".
- They do NOT want media coverage, they go into detail discussing how to further the trans agenda without attracting media attention, because once the issues are out in the open, the public views a lot of these things negatively.
What we really need is a flood of these type of athletes to just take over a sport or two. Like have the top 15 or 20 athletes in the NCAA women's swimming finals actually be men. Or maybe a volleyball or basketball team thats mostly tranny men and a few actual women sprinkled in here or there to dominate the national championships.
As along as its a guy here or there doing this it will be dismissed and seen as "the price of progress" while actually hard working female athletes get shafted.
The way you protest this is to make it an even bigger mockery.
Next swim meet that Lia Thompson participates in, the other swimmers in the race stay on the blocks at the start. Give Thompson one length of the pool and then the rest of the field dives in to race each other. This should sufficiently embarrass the NCAA to action and bring the matter to a head. This would be a spectacle that the NCAA cannot easily sweep under the rug like a petition. If the NCAA suspends competitors for this, then the ensuing public backlash would be huge.

I like your style. It won't happen.

In this day and age people are scared about being cancelled if they appear to stand against others 'rights' even if it is impacting their own

Curious about how the NCAA transgender policy came about. Must've been a very quiet press free event.

They would sufficiently embarass themselves and never compete in a N.C.A.A. sport again. It might be a good idea in middle school, but college athletes are expected to behave like adults.

Ive arrived to more or less the same conclusion in regards to womens athletics. We have to let womens athletics suffer a gruesome death to mobilize people. Loss is the catalyst for action.
We need to let the Mbomas, Niyonsabas, and Semenyas run rampant. We need to let them wipe the floor with the Gideys, Hassans, ThompsonHerahs, and FraserPryces of the world. We need to let them win all the medals and rewrite the record books.

None of the people you listed are transgender athletes. If we can let them wipe out women's sports why don't we stop them instead?

Doesn't matter, this is the same issue because the end result is the same. Same war, multiple fronts. Women being forced to compete with people who are not women will inevitably lead to the death of women's sports. I dont care about the specifics of what they are, point is theyre not women and if theyre allowed to occupy a space meant exclusively for women then that space might as well not exist.
