Let's hope the dude was mentally ill.
Let's hope the dude was mentally ill.
I genuinely wish I, as a male runner, could tangibly do something to make it safer for women runners to run in all the locations and times that I do. We should all be able to run on streets, trails, tracks without worrying about getting punched or worse.
But I don't know what the answer is.
Men don’t like that some women are more athletic than them.
Some men don’t think women should be doing sport.
I bet every woman I’m here could probably reply with a story about some ahole a telling them something or doing something to them while they were out running.
A few years ago my wife said a guy kept cutting her off in a race and eventually he spit in front of her, but not on her. so she retaliated by speeding up then threw her bottle down at his feet. he couldn’t catch up to her. I didn’t know it happened, end of race dude starts talking smack to her. Everyone is yelling bad words. I splashed him with water, he splashed me , i threw the bottle at his car, shoving match ensued. No punches thrown. Just two skinny dudes in each others faces. Fun times, I’m taller so I feel like I won! Longest car ride home ever.
Huh?
“To men, when you see and hear these stories, please don’t ignore them because they make you uncomfortable. Help make the city a safe environment for women.” Richardson says.
There are simple things men can do on their runs to support female runners, such as giving them space when passing, or crossing the street in the dark to not make women feel uncomfortable.
What if the female runner is BIPOC? Am I insulting them by avoiding them? Can we assume they are a female runner based on their appearance? What if they are identifying as male that day? I would think the female runners appreciate male runners in their general vicinity because it makes them less likely to be attacked. Most of these attacks come from non-runners and are telegraphed in advance by the attacker.
There are too many rules for us toxicly masculine & oppressive runners. I just give a casual cool "sup" head bob and flash the peace sign when passing runners going the opposite direction. It is an expression of my recognition that they are grinding out the miles in the same, often crappy conditions, that I am.
Stop trying to blame all Men.....There are good and bad of both sexes...

How many women rape men?
What's the ratio of men raping women : women raping men?
This sounds like something sham would do and then boast about it here.

More noise from the illogical. What you are saying, in summary, is that all men are a problem because the ratio of M -> F violence is greater than F -> M violence.
This is a thought experiment for you, What if we change the words slightly?
How many whites kill blacks?
What's the ratio of blacks killing blacks : whites killing blacks?
Is my conclusion that all blacks are bad?
If you try to logic with one parameter or characteristic, this is how you can fashion any agenda you want. It changes no fact and takes away from the actual issue, how do you prevent getting punched in the face while running, in this case? This is why we have no real conversation in the USA.

Your wife is in the wrong. Who on earth throws a water bottle at someone’s feet during a race because another competitior was racing them?
As to the article itself, I’m not willing to draw conclusions of some epidemic of violence against female runners by one freak attack.
Fact is, men are more likely to be assaulted than females. Men are also more likely to be hospitalized by the attack.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.smh.com.au/national/men-more-likely-to-be-attacked-by-strangers-than-women-20180703-p4zp5z.htmlPeople for some reason want to believe female runners are at this huge risk, but it simply isn’t true. It’s probably pushed in part by females who use it as an excuse not to exercise.
Well, you are wrong. Women are assaulted a lot when they are alone. It's a serious concern. The problem is that they aren't nearly as strong as men, so they can't typically defend themselves well. To say that women just don't want to exercise is stupid. Did you know that you hate women? Loser.
Dude, I literally posted stats supporting that men are assaulted more often and are more likely to end up in the hospital as a result.

All men should be banned from public spaces immediately!!
Women are stronger than men. That’s what my school tells me. That's what the media tells me. That’s what I see in every Hollywood show. Hot babes kicking mens asses. It’s the men that need protection.

At least equal. Women are more strategic, and wait until they get the assist from the family court system.
