If so, when is this going down? I’ve got to imagine they would have already spoken to some coach they would like to target. If not, who takes the Hoka gig?

What Hoka gig? Is Hoka starting a new group besides NAZ?
Sounds like a spoof off Brian Kelly leaving
Not sure if it’s to Hoka but Carlson is leaving

It’s what they say anyway
The only way this moved past rumor was if Carlson wrapped himself up inside a package Nguste deal. Not sure how wanted Nguste is by Hoka? But aside from Nguste, who has he coached near National relevance? He is made for college (and so far only proven to RECRUIT at a high level). Most recently, ND cross country men severley under-performed at NCAA CC. Not sure who else Hoka can hire to fill this rumored middle distance group based in Flagstaff, but was thinking about Vanhoy (very nice Ole Miss mid-D group with Craig Engels), Ron Warhurst (with Hobbs basically based there), Robert Gary (has coached several sub-3:37 guys and experience pros with Furman Elite), John Gondak (retirement position), Tom Nohilly and John Trautman (history with Hoka).
He makes $250K. He isn't leaving.
Wait 6 months. Most likely another college but it’s confirmed he’s leaving after this year. Jacobs most likely following with kilrea and methner following as well
You’re off by about double.

He missed a big bonus at NCAA's. Plus I bet he wished he negotiated an Olympic team member bonus.
You think he makes $500 but would leave?
He'll likely go back to NCC on a lifetime contract.

I know he went there, but at this point in his career I really don’t see that happening, maybe in like 15 years but at his age right now no shot imo
I’ve heard from a reliable source close to the team that he isn’t happy with his salary and is looking to leave.
They are prepared to pay $500k per year?

We before me must not apply to him. Sounds like Sean doesn't believe in what he preaches to his own team.
You people are nuts. I bet Carlson doesn't make $120,000 even on a great performing year with bonuses.
Head coaches at Iowa and Wisconsin earn $250k. Now I understand why he is upset. Assistants at many P5 schools earn $120k.
Expect to hear an announcement soon that Ron Helmer is leaving Indiana to coach a professional team.
Outside of football, basketball, and perhaps hockey, salaries for athletic staff at Notre Dame are not what a lot of people think they are. The University does provide good benefits, especially if you are married with kids. Plus the cost of living is relatively low compared to other parts of the country.
