Women marry a “loser” and then get stuck paying alimony. Those guys are living the dream.

your dream is to be a loser who cant hild down a good job? Seems like you should aim higher....
what guy wants to be some plaything? Or have some woman nagging them every day. Even voluntary stay at home dad's are probably cursing under their breath.
I knew a few guys that that stayed home their wifes were deployed. Total losers. Wife's are out their kicking ass, giving orders, saving lives. One guy was stuck, alone with multiple special needs children and in-laws, F-that.
Nothing better than being the king of your castle. Or atleast in control of your destiny. Although, if it was a dream situation like mansion pool Bugatti , me running all day in the mountains, I'm game.

You’re my hero
my favorite is when the working spouse has to give up half their retirement to the stay at home.
never goes away til the day you die.
So they're not happy when the game they usually play is reversed? Hmm.
And to the poster who said something about marrying losers--it'd called taking responsibility for your choices. I see so many people get into relationships then complain after the breakup that their partner was a loser. Well, maybe do a better job of picking a partner. Dont be attracted to losers. (I will acknowledge that attraction is usually natural and people are usually attracted to a partner with common traits as their own biological parents).
Now I get it, most people have been in a relationship they regret. It happens. But if you screen your partner thoroughly and choose wisely, chances are a lot more likely the relationship will succeed. Those who are more patient and selective regarding a relationship are more likely to succeed as well. They don't just go jumping in at the first person they feel attraction with.

It's like the movie Blue Valentine, about the disintegration of a relationship. A successful nurse and a random bum who plays guitar I think (Ryan Gosling).
Basically, I feel men should be the protector and provider. Women want security and don't want to feel weird if the guy is weaker (unequally yoked) or at a disadvantage.
I love how somehow every single one of these guys who is getting paid out alimony is characterized as a "bum" or a slacker. Although some, perhaps many, surely are, but c'mon, ALL of them are good for nothings? Doubtful.
It's called equality. And you don't get to pick and choose only the advantage part of it. And a stay at home dad is equal to a stay at home mom. We don't call women losers for their choice. We shouldn't bash the men. It's not the 1920's anymore. Men are not always the bread winner. Just my opinion.
From the article: “I often look in the mirror and wonder whether this whole feminism thing backfired on me.”
Good. Now they know what it's been like for dudes doing the same for the past forever.
They tell us for decades that "the future is female" with a smug grin. Now they're surprised when the present becomes "female". What did they think was going to happen lol?
Equality or Equity?

I do income verification and I'd say in more cases than not, now the women make more than the men, by a huge margin. Plus, many women are in the management/senior level roles, esp. older Millennials (32-40) and Xers (41-55). Like I live in Ohio but we'll pull income for women making 70k or more easy in most cases. Men make more at the very very top but usually, at the bottom, below 50k you'll see more men under those wages than women. Women ARE the new middle class.
Admittedly, there is some satisfaction to be had reading that article. That woman seems to think that this new trend of paying alimony is somehow different from what has always taken place in the other direction. She seems completely oblivious to the fact that this is the same old story that countless men out there can recount too. Many of them also lost custody of their kids in the mix too
Satisfaction aside, stuff like this shouldn't happen. No one should live life like a bum mooching everything off someone else. What a loser
I'm baffled by how many people don't take marriage seriously. Turns out women are also sometimes bad at selecting partners and are also surprised to find out that their commitments to those partners are more involved than they thought.

The reason this happens is because the stay-at-home has given up a career to make a family for them and their partner - activities that are not financially rewarded. If you spent 5-15+ years out of the workforce to look after the kids, that's hugely important socially, but isn't paid. Therefore career development is lacking and pension is not contributed to.
Your partner allowed you to get that retirement by opting to do all the stuff you probably didn't want to do or didn't have time to do.
It's terrible those poor women were forced to marry such losers and then continue to pay that loser afterward.. how horrible! (eye roll)
I bet they loved these guys before because theses dudes were artistic, he had a band, lived such a carefree lifestyle, was sooo passionate about his surfing/writing/running/, he's not stuffy and boring like my dad always worried about work and money. All that stuff is cool until there are kids, a mortgage, and the bills are due.
They are going through the male equivalent to marrying The Party Girl.
Alimony is an outdated concept. It shouldn't exist at all for males or females.
Child support-yes
split marital assets- of course
But once you divorce, it should end there. Would it suck to have your successful wife or husband leave you? Heck yeah. But thems the breaks.
Like Jefferson on "Married with Children." He says, "A JJJ-0B?"
Makes me wish that I was gay so I never needed to interact with a woman for the rest of my life.
Here the key is that these are not women who were playing the "game" of living off of their spouses. They are working and making money and don't like men living off of them, just as working men don't like ex-wives (and sometimes wives) living off of them. The non-working women aren't in this situation.
