We aren't going to vaccinate it out of existence. We sure as hell aren't going to mask it out of existence. So what's the endgame here? Live with futile masks and restrictions forever?

Most Americans prefer the risk of death from Covid. You will easily reach a million.
The game is that big pharma laughs all the way to the bank. They aim to have a continued revenue stream via covid--which was purposely created and released from a lab in a communist country, There will be more vaccine boosters, mandates, they will probably come up with some "covid pills" too. Remember, there will be no permanent cure because a customer cured is a customer lost for big pharma.

We missed our chance to control it. In part thanks to antivaxxers and the GQP which has, for reasons unclear, gone all in on the antivaxing.
If we do nothing, we'll get what we get, and it won't be pretty. Many, many people are simply not going to "go back to normal" because they posses common sense. Therefore, life as we know it has changed forever.

You got that right Steve!

You're actually gonna avoid crowds and wear masks forever?

FREAKING SICKOS. TIME TO WAKE UP.
I suppose none of you idiots that got vaccinated listened to Geerts Vanden Bosch today. Towards the end of his interview with Del Bigtree he specifically said "Without your innate immunity, you have no chance of survival". Sorry but the vaccine destroys your innate immunity.
That's how Covid will end for all of you vaxxers. As soon as the end of this year. He's been spot on with his March 12 warning. He also said if he's wrong he deserves to be thrown in jail. Guess we'll see. Damn glad I don't have that poison in my body.

Ditto that. You think the current situation should just go on forever? Masks forever? You’re insane.

I will avoid the easily avoidable and pointlessly risky situations. Simply, my time spent indoors amongst crowds will never return to what it was unless and until something significant occurs.
Now, my time indoors amongst crowds is not super high anyway, so.. But, theatres, concerts, conventions, etc...pass. Most dining indoors (crowded indoors), pass.
I'll still shop as needed and that kind of thing but the pointless exposures are not coming back.
Masks are situation dependant. I don't use them much now so..whatever. I wear them in costco, common areas of work, etc. Its really no big deal. Local transmission dynamics will dictate most of my behavior.
Hate to be the one to break it to you, but Covid might be a big thing for the rest of your time here on planet Earth. Just being frustrated with it isn't going to make it go away. We don't have some collective "right" to "live normally". It's unfortunate, but that's the way it is.
One thing the Covid pandemic has done is clarify how incapable the human race is of working towards a common goal. It's fascinating, in a depressing way. Imagine if we found out that a giant asteroid was forecast with 99.999% certainty to hit Earth 6 months from now, and the only way to save humanity was for all the nations' top scientists and engineers to work together on a solution, and for the public of each nation to back them. It would turn into a total farce! You'd have so many competing factions, most of them trying to avoid doing anything whatsoever. Reactions will range from "It's God's/Allah's/Shinto's Will", to "how can scientists really know that this probably-flat asteroid is going to collide with out flat disc planet in the future?", to "it's just a ploy for Big Tech to take our money", to "I'm going to do some research on the internet", to "the only thing to stop a bad asteroid is a good guy with a gun", etc.

How is this virus different from other past viruses? We survived them and went back to normal.

Do you actually fear for your life despite vaccination and antiviral pills, or do you just not want to get a very mild illness ever again?
There is no end game planned. The COVID hysterics pushing the fear are the ones benefiting from it in some way- pharmaceutical companies w their treatments, researchers with their niche funded research, politicians pandering for votes (and further causes backed by special interest groups) by pushing COVID policies/handouts/pharmaceutical/non-pharmaceutical mandates, epidemiologists/public health officials at local/federal level enjoying the power and limelight, contact tracers, testing companies and their laboratories, the whole health care sector all geared up and making a killing on the pandemic. They will continue to keep covid and fear alive to the bitter end. We've got an entire economy now built around covid lunacy.

Interesting. So we don't have a "right" to "live normally." But every individual has a "right" to be protected from a virus that has several vaccines and treatments, with a 99.99+% survival rate after vaccination.

Except COVID isn’t an asteroid that’s going to wipe out all of mankind. It’s more equivalent to the wind. Kind of annoying, happening everywhere all the time, not anything I would ever go out of my way to avoid.
You want top stop the wind…but it will never stop.
70% of NZ cases have come in the past three months in spite of lockdowns, vaccinations, etc. at a time of year when it really doesn't spread well. Welcome to the world of endemic COVID. I thought you guys had it solved and were going to stay sealed of from the world forever. What happened? The future looks rough. I mean, your hospitals were maxed out in March when there pretty much was no COVID in NZ.
I hate to think of what next March will look like now that you have COVID on a large scale. At least your hospitals have started buying refrigerated trucks to store the bodies.
The above was in response to this:

I’d actually be curious about this answer as well. The vaccination is something like 99.99% effective in preventing hospitalizations. If you get the vaccine, which is readily available in most of the western world totally free of charge, you’ll probably be totally fine.
