Athletes retire with most of their adult lives ahead of them. Some have become politicians, doctors, and broadcasters while others have gone to jail.
Who has made the most and least of their post-professional lives?

Who has made the most and least of their post-professional lives?
Bannister did pretty well.
All of the 50% of pro athletes that go broke sometime after retiring.
Danielson
Prefontaine retired on a rock.
Coe?
This guy is also notable but was not a pro. A capable 800m runner nonetheless. There is an in competition picture in the article.
Tony Sandoval and Bob Kempainen retired and became doctors.
Josh Cox retired and became an agent and often speaks at overeaters anonymous meetings.

Lasse Viren , Finland, double Olympic Champion at 5000/ 10000 -72 and -76 became a politician in Finland parliament and started his own vehicles business. A fantastic career! Then Thomas Wessinghage , Germany and European champ at 5000m became a well known doctor.
Lukezic had so much F U money that USADA banned him for not still taking a piss test after retiring.

Jordan, duh
Alan Webb seems to be doing really well. He's an entrepreneur, and dabbles in coaching and spiritual enlightenment. OJ Simpson really hasn't done the best post-professionally. Is he doing much other than giving bad fantasy advice on Twitter these days?
You don't say you're limiting to runners. Jack Kemp came close to being president. Bill Bradley did the same. Jim Bunning became a US Representative from Kentucky. John Landy became governor of whatever Australian state he lives in. Bruce Kidd was in Canada's parliament and also had a career as a professor and activist for improving sports. Bannister did very well as a doctor. So did Tony Sandoval, Thomas Wessinhage, and Duncan McDonald. Kenny Moore had a very successful career as a writer. Jim Ryun was a US rep. Billy Sunday became a nationally known preacher after his MLB career and was generally considered the most influential evangelist in the US from 1900-1920 or so.
Worst? You'd not usually hear. Tim Danielson ended up a murderer. That's hard to top. Antoinne Walker made something like $110 million in his NBA career and was bankrupt in less than a year after retiring. Hollywood Henderson made several million dollars in his NFL career and blew most of it on drugs after retiring. Then he bought a lottery ticket and won a few million. Delante West has been homeless for much of his post NBA life.
Dwayne Johnson
Lorena Ochoa
Anna Kournikova
Shaq
Paul Gompers 2:11 marathoner. His Wikipedia page does not even mention his running career? Interesting. I think Wejo and Rojo both know this guy.
https://worldathletics.org/athletes/united-states/paul-gompers-14359301I vote for Hollywood Henderson on both counts. Had a horrible cocaine habit and lost everything, including his pro football athletic ability. Was on the skids, then won $28 million in the Texas State Lottery and now does some good philanthropic work.
Gomper’s magnificent home with a 25 m racing swimming pool in his yard. Scroll down. He still looks very fit and does not seem to have put on any significant weight at all. He’s 57 years old right now but doesn’t look much over 35-40.
Terelle Owens is basically bankrupt, right?
Id say him. Wasn't he still running 40s and catching off the jugs machine in his front yard up until lately, trying to get an NFL team to pick him up?
Believe he made in excess of $50M during his career.
It's either Coe, or Jenner.
