She has been running professionally for Nike since late 2015, so she's been getting paychecks for over 6 years. She has had a very successful 6 years, winning a lot of prize money, bonuses for making olympic and world championship teams, as well as American Record bonuses from her 1500 and 5k AR's. Her contract alone would have been over $100k, maybe even more than $200k. Then the prize money and everything else I just said... She did buy a house a few years back, maybe that down payment may have eaten up some of what she saved in that first year or two, but she still likely has well over $100k in the bank or hopefully investments to live off of the next few years, likely way more than $100k. And if she is still receiving Nike checks then she doesn't even have to touch those savings yet until she 'retires'.
