Hi guys.
I'm in my first year of running, got my 5k time down from 25 to 17:30 (4 months ago) in a year while I was losing some excess weight. I'm training to go sub 17 now with the race in 2 and half weeks. Been averaging about 55mpw with one interval session (400s, 800s, 6-8x1k) or tempo each week and a long run of 13-15 miles.
I did a 4xmile workout a few days back and was wondering if you think the splits indicate I'd hit my goal as I'm still quite new to racing. The splits were as follows:
5:22 - 5:22 - 5:17 - 5:16, with a 3min jog at 7:15 pace between each.
These are slightly faster than 17min pace but the rest was quite long at 3 minutes. Do you think I'm on track or is there some other workout that might give a better estimate of what I should be aiming for?
