And by works, I mean growing your own hair again; not spray-painting your bald spot.
I ask because I am sitting here watching sports and I have seen two ads already...I didn't think we had a solution yet?

I’ve talked to doctors about this and they told me don’t waste your time with that stuff. if it really bothers you and gets bad enough just get a transplant. the transplants are really good these days
It's called transplants.

What about a product that keeps your hair from turning white?
Yeah, a good razor.
The only product that actually grows hair is one that has minoxidil (Rogaine) in it. Just being curious, I do see ads on tv for hair regrowth products and I do internet search on what their ingredients are (they always say "patented" formula). The ones that do work are the ones that have minoxidil in them. Biotin helps volume but won't actually grow new hair. My advice is to NOT buy an advertised patented product. Just go to Walmart and get generic minoxidil, it's costs much less and the effectiveness is basically the same. Now, also remember, if you do use this stuff (or products that have it as well) you do need to continue to use it because if you quit using it, you will lose that hair which regrew.
I started to recede over 10 years ago.
Bought my first hair loss products last week
I take 2 capsules of Priorin every day. I also am using a special shampoo with Biotin.
I have 3 months supply of Priorin. If it doesn't work, I may try a DHT blocking pill.
So far I am pleasantly surprised, even though it's been only 9 days. My finger nails are thicker.
One spot which was quite thin on my scalp has become less noticeable.
So far so good. With Priorin you're supposed to try the product for 3 months. So I'll have a better idea after that duration.
Apply snake oil, but the snakes have got to be 100% extra virginal.
Propecia works. But it’s not going to grow back the bald spot. It can prevent further hair loss if you start when you notice a receding hairline, though.
Idk why more dudes don’t just wear a wig. Chicks do it.
Transplants work.
Dht inhibitors work for most men to prevent pr slow balding.
The secret is to become a homeless person who has no care in the world and avoids all the hygiene products that actually cause hair loss. Excessive bathing may cause the skin to be a less desirable place for hair to grow. Think Neanderthal.
You’ll rarely see a wino without a full head of hair.

I’m 35 and started using a generic minoxidil foam from Target. My hair is fuller than it was when I was 27 (pre-kids).
I heard that if you start it before 40, it’s more likely to work. I’ve been pretty amazed that it worked as well as it did.
It looks like this post assumed hair loss due to male pattern baldness, but just wanted to chime in for all of the other types of hair loss that affect both men and women of many ages
Male pattern baldness is highly genetic and there may be some inevitability to full or partial hair loss that can only barely be mitigated by things like minoxidil
Most hair loss is due to stress, nutritional, and/or endocrine factors, or an autoimmune condition. Most of these are fully if not mostly reversible by addressing the underlying cause and treating appropriately--e.g. eating more calories, more protein, or more B vitamins; treating underlying autoimmune condition; and/or getting out of that stupid f*cking stressful job.
Just have better genetics. My hair is as thick as ever at nearly 40 yo.

Mine was too. Now at 50, getting pretty thin in places.
Genetics are everything. If you have the genetics to turn full cueball bald then there's nothing you can do to retain something resembling a full head of hair. The majority of Caucasian guys are genetically determined to end up somewhere in between, usually with some visible V-shaped recession and less density (There are some extremes where a guy ends up with dense w/ V-shape or diffuse w/ no recession). The same can happen to women, much less commonly. It's always a big drag on one's personal apperance; this is basic science of sexual attraction.
You don't really know what's going to happen to your hair unless you have a large sample size of siblings and grandparents and cousins and they have basically the same hair. That's pretty rare. Most guys will have a mixed bag of relatives and cannot predict what will happen to their own hair. Furthermore, there are big differences in the age when it kicks in and how fast or for how long it progresses. For some guys it will do some relatively minor damage for a decade and then practically stabilize (This is one of the reasons why to be skeptical of guys who say they started to take some pill and then their hair loss stopped. It can be a sheer coincidence).
A realistic goal if you're balding but not likely headed to full cueball if to try and keep a minimal amount of hair to style according to your head shape. For example, clearly actor Daniel Craig has V-shaped recession and thinning, but still enough hair (possibly with the aid of transplantation) for a crew cut type of style (and for Hollywood to make it look thicker by using strategic lighting and coloring). The problem too many guys make is having the unrealistic goal of going from mostly bald to the hair they had at age 14. That ends up with some weird/fake looking transplant as they try to cover too big of a bald area.
The best course of action is therefore:
(1) Wait a number of years till your hair loss has mostly stabilized.
(2) Get a conservative hair transplant to gain back some ground, just enough so that you don't look too bad with a buzzcut, maybe a with a fade like a military cut.
(3) Accept that, all other things being equal, you lost some points in attractiveness since the days when you had a full head of hair. Adjust your romantic expectations accodingly.
(4) Focus on things you can control, like dressing to enhance your looks.

How long after you had started did you notice a difference?
Dave Portnoy had some hair transplanted. People nowadays are more open about this. In my opinion, it's not really that much different from getting braces to straighten your teeth, someone we all accept as normal means to enhance one's appearance.

Bradley Cooper's transplant looks good.
I think wearing long hair somewhat forward over the hairline hides the unnatural look well.
