In a similar manner every 15 min 5k runner on here thinks a ultra is easy until they actually do it(if they have the balls to put their money where their mouth is).

Did I miss something?
When did Shalane ran an ultra?
I don’t know why people think this is bashing on ultra runners. It’s completely true. I know plenty of 4 hour marathon runners who run ultra marathons. Every world class ultra runner would instead run marathons if they could compete at a really high level. On the flip side every world class marathoner would absolutely crush ultra marathons provided they had nutrition/hydration dialed and the motivation to do it. The only separation that exists is that with some ultra marathons but also shorter trail races there is some unique skill to navigating and moving fast on technical trail that road marathon runners potentially couldn’t do

If any 4 hour marathoner would try a little harder they would crush world class marathon times.
The only thing which counts is showing up at the starting line. World class marathoners are crushing nothing anytime soon, regarding ultras.
She is showing us that if you run slower you can race more often. Nothing new or amazing. She has enough miles in her legs to support the 2-3 hours of time on her feet and her engine does not have to work as hard to run sub-2:40 compared to sub-2:25.
Shalane is juiced.

Have fun jogging 12 minute pace through a forest searching for where to take the next selfie.
She hasn't done an ultra yet.

lol ultra running is not a punch in the face, it's a kiss on the forehead compared to real distances.

Technically she ran over a marathon in all of her attempts, minus the non-marathon 26.20 she ran last week.
Ultra running is super easy and not at all competitive. That’s why all those middling 2:10 guys that have to work full time jobs jump over to ultras and make a living doing it.
Oh wait…

Lady gets a massage, ice bath, soft bed, first or business class seats. This is fairly plush.
I just don't understand the objective of this publicity stunt. She's pretty reclusive, meets with donors and Nike runners, jogs, leaves. It's not like she's doing a press circuit or signing autograps. I haven't seen a fundraiser as..

How many ultras have you done? Go sign up for a 24 hour race on a track or run up and down mountains for a 100 miles and come back here and tell us how easy it was.
Any distance is as hard as any if you run fast enough. What's harder--a 4:00 mile or an 8 hour 50k? (Let's assume everything is on a track for comparison's sake). What's harder--jogging a mile or jogging a 50k?
Is "harder" your driving motivation?
Kipchoge is going to do some sort of ultra before he's done, and it's all over for ultra elitism at that point.
I only hope it's something in the US, or that UTMB thing, rather than Comrades. If he runs Western States or something, and takes two hours off the record, we'll never see another lumbering WS again.

I did a 44km ultra last summer for "fun", and yeah it was easy.

Kipchoge would never do or could do UMTB or Western States. He would get smoked by some hobby joggers 100%
