There are three runners left, Terumichi MorishLta, Chris Roberts and Harvey Lewis in the Big Dog Backyard Ultra. If you don't know it, they have to go out and run a loop (1/24 of 100 miles or 4.167 miles) every hour until only one runner is left, who has to complete a last lap on his/her own.
They have a live feed if you want to watch it, I have no idea how theses three can keep going. The record for this kind of event is 81 laps. In any event, my question is, thinking about sleep deprivation etc., could someone run until they drop dead? Literally run themselves to death? Not from some underlying heart condition etc. which happens at marathons all the time, but the cause of death being "exhaustion from running"?
