Good article in today’s Guardian on SR. Author tries to be balanced but can’t find enough evidence on the positive side.

Some highlights:
At the OTs she “stole hearts from Eugene to Yokahama...” but after her Pre / Eugene debacle she was calling Jamaicans a nation of “barefoot coconut eaters.” SR’s “ridicule was swiftly taken up on social media by rafts of pot-clapping Jamaicans; they were too delighted to point out that Richardson’s 11.14 time wouldn’t have medaled at Champs.”
On SR’s throwing shade on Alison Felix: “It’s one thing not to be cowed by a nation that takes track more seriously than Americans take anything (Ouch!). It’s another to attack Felix…one of the one kindest, most sincere people in all of sports.”
On post-race TV coverage of last-place SR and ignoring first-place Elaine Thompson-Herah: “NBC – in a heat to prove its bungled Olympics coverage was no fluke…zeroed in on Richardson, and she unraveled on live TV.”
Conclusion: “It’s fair to wonder whether she’ll be remembered more for running her mouth than running at all.”
Worth a read. And not behind a paywall!
