Dejene Debela is my choice for first to finish. PB of 2.05.46 when second in Chicago two years ago. Also won Xiamen that year and second in Abu Dhabi in 2.07.06 in 2018 on a short course. Fourth in Eindhoven in 2017 in 2.07.10

Oops, how could a statsman get the maths so wrong in the title. Should read 38 profiles: 2 every 3 days. I was distracted, just for a minute.

Mare Dibaba is who I think will be the first female. PB of 2.19.52 (twice) and World Champs winner.

The two sub 2.20's were in 2012 and 2015 but in 2019 in Berlin ran 2.20.21 when second. Has two second placed finishes here. Is still only 31yo.

Next could be the athlete who was just 2 sec behind Debela in Chicago in 2019. Asefa Mengstu's PB is 2.04.06 when fourth in Dubai in 2018. Was one place higher there the next year but 18 sec slower.

Doing my research, I have American women at 4th and eighth. Too high?

Next might be Sutume Asefa Kebede, her PB of 2.20.30 set when third in Tokyo last year. That took 3.01 off her previous best. Sutume was 7th in Hengelo over 10000 this year trying to get a passage to the Olympics on the track.

Here is my profile from the Tokyo event where Kebede ran much quicker than ever before:

Eleventh lady should be Sutume Asefa Kebede, 25yo and ranked 76. Details in a minute or two.
Last November won Beijing in 2.23.31. Previous best was fourth in Dubai in 2016 in 2.24.00. Once held the Ethiopian record for 25k.
I cannot believe Geoffrey Kirui is still only 28yo. It was in 2017 when he won both here and the World Champs. The next year was second behind Yuki here in awful conditions. PB is from 2016 when seventh in Amsterdam in 2.06.27

Third lady next, who before the best from the USA?

I have been a huge fan of Caroline Kipkirui for two years plus. This is my profile I wrote in Sept 2019 before the Delhi Half where Caroline finished 7th:
There is little doubt in my mind that the winning woman will be Caroline Kipkirui , 25yo and ranked two. More in a minute.
Caroline has run three marathons, at ages 18 and 19. Her PB for the half was set last year at RAK, third in 65.07, passing the ten mile mark in 49.29, fastest in the world in 2018. She won in Prague in April, 65.44, the same weekend that Hassan won in a slower time in Berlin and Ruth C. won in a quicker time in Istanbul. On that Saturday, she beat Salpeter by 25 sec with a full minute and a half back to third. Here is my profile from my Prague half thread:
Second among the women should be Caroline Chepkoech Kipkirui, who is ranked 4 as a road runner and 7 over 5000m on the track. Her track record includes a great 4th in the Zurich Diamond League close behind Obiri, Hassan, and Teferi. Those three were also among the top 4 in the amazing finish at Rabat. In the first four months of last year before the Diamond League season started, Kipkirui ran 2nd in Houston, 3rd at RAK, and second here in Prague. Caroline turns 25 in May.
Umm ever heard of Jordan Hasay?

Yes, three thirds in majors but was poor in 2020. Coming up next in fourth? Better be looking over her shoulder for the form 41yo who beat her here in 2019.

Fourth should be Jemal Yimer in his long awaited debut. Holds the NR for the half set in Valencia in 2018 of 58.33. It is equal 8th all-time. Since then has two times sub 59.30. Was fifth at Worlds in 2017 over 25 laps on the track. In my opinion, the quality drops away after these first four compared to the women who go 11 deep.

PB of 2.20.57 when third in Chicago in 2017.

Next might be Felix Kandie on a good day. Only 18th in Milan this year and 13th in Valencia last December. Was fourth here and fifth in Berlin in 2019. PB of 2.06.03 from 2017 in Seoul.

PB of 2.20.57 when third in Chicago in 2017.
Looking over her shoulder for last weekend's Falmouth seven miler winner, Edna Kiplagat. 41yo now, winner of World Champs in 2011 and 2013. Won here in 2017 in 2.21.52 and second in London in 2012 in 2.19.50 as well as other wins in London and NY.
Sixth man could be Paul Lonyangata, PB back in 2017 of 2.06.10 when winning Paris. In 2019 was third in the French capital in 2.07.29 and won Shanghai in 2.08.11. 2018 won Paris (likes it there) in 2.06.25 and in 2016 was fifth here and fourth in Chicago

Seventh is Benson Kipruto, same finish he had in London last year. First to finish this year in Prague at the battle of the teams. PB from Toronto in 2019 when 4th in 2.05.13.
