These people are set up to fail in life. Their parents were either horrible and/or did not fulfill them emotionally and we are a product of our environment. The rules of society can be cruel because once you get into a hole they make it hard to dig out. For example, giving prisoners a criminal record so they can't get a job only leads to them continuing down the hole of degradation.
This exact mindset of victimhood and lack of self-responsibility is what leads to homelessness and horrible outcomes for many. Many people had rough childhoods and didn't end up homeless or a criminal, so I don't want to hear that horsesh!t. "We are a product of our environments" "the system is rigged against us" - what are you like 12? Society has never been easier to survive and thrive in, which is partly why so many homeless people opt to live in shanty towns inside major cities instead of living off the grid in the woods - because they can mooch off the people actually contributing to civilization and infrastructure.
The only excuse I can actually sympathize with is severe mental illness like schizophrenia, PTSD or learning disorders (which I am sure most homeless people have), but the excuse of having mean parents and being a victim of "society" falls on deaf ears for me.
