The majority of posters here will want to go with their hearts and say Solinski, but he’s clearly outclassed him on the global scale.

Suzy Favor-Hamilton outclassed them all.

Solinsky wasn’t even as good as Teg.

We could argue about the 12:55-12:58 American 5k guys all day, but as for Teg vs. Solinsky: I would rather have Tegenkamp’s career, but Solinsky reached a higher level in 2010 than Teg ever did.
Solinsky's PRs are very similar to Mo's. Never had the international success, but he did well for awhile in the Diamond League (and beat Kipchoge once). And of course Rojo will point out that he did it without super shoes.
Gwen Jorgensen has a gold medal, just sayin.

12:47 is significantly better than 12:55. Gwen Jorgenson is (was) actually good at the triathlon.
Evan Jager also has an OG silver and a WC bronze.
The biggest difference is that I think he never won an individual title at Wisconsin.
I can't remember if they won a team and he was held back at an xc meet that he may have gotten the dub.
That has to hurt the resume a bit but he's been incredible post college.
Honestly you could see it in high school as well dude was basically the same then. Impressive person and great runner. He arguably defeated the deepest Ontario field ever during his time there
Gwen Jorgensen for me. Ahmed a close second, then Jager.
I think Jager is probably better. But whenever I see these threads about specific colleges I think there should also be some weight given to how they did while in school. How did Ahmed do while at Wisconsin? Solinsky won 5 national titles individually. Teg and Ahmed and Jager didn’t win any that I am aware of. Bairu won two big ones (XC) but was never a player on the world stage.
It’s between Jager and Ahmed for best lifetime achievements but if we include college you might be able to make a good argument for Solinsky. Certainly the most talented runner ever at Wisconsin, just couldn’t get past that one major injury.
Jager spent less than a year in Madison, so I don't think he belongs in the conversation.

If you're including Favor, I'd actually put Kathly Butler up there as well.
