Overrated, imo. Just outside the medals.

I respectfully disagree with you and we shall see the results in a few minutes because it’s due to start in about 10 minutes from now.
Katir is going to win easily.
There are nobody.
The best Ethiopians are not there. Jakob is not there.
The 5000 is a depleted event. Katir is going to outkick the two Ugandans easily.
Katir is from Morocco so he is juiced to the max.
Like all the Morocco runners before him: Aouita, Skah, El G etc
Moroccans , as Nick Willis said recently, are ‘Marrow-cans’

You were right I stand corrected.
Kudos for your perceptive prediction. Did you have inside information?

More likely this wasn’t the first race he’s ever watched and used common sense to make his prediction rather than riding the hype train.
Likely he got nervous with all the doping speculation and was aware that the testing would be strict in Tokyo. 3 weeks without EPO and he's back to nowhere near sniffing sub 13.
He ran the entire race in lane 2 and 3. Like literally the entire race. He looked like he was counting on his "fitness" to make up for tactical sloppiness. But maybe he had to leave his "fitness" at home for the Olympics, who knows.

You are an insufferable racist moron.
Had Katir run well - obvious doper.
Katir doesn't run well - obvious doper.
Poor Katir, born with the wrong skin color and in the wrong country to be Coevett-approved.

I wonder if he is like the Portuguese Mamede. World record holder who was a total headcase in big competitions.

This is an obvious strawman, you’re injecting race into something that has nothing to do with it, it doesn’t support your argument.
Jimmy Gressier, ran as well as could be expected in those kinds of conditions and with that type of magnificent field. His 1311, even though outside his best, should be worth around 1303 to 1306 in good conditions if not faster.
In France we will say -“il a rempli son contrat”- which means he fulfilled the expectations expected of him coming here.
Perhaps he will celebrate with a binge meal tonight in McDonald’s as there are plenty of those outlets in Japan. This is somewhat paradoxical in a country which has so many healthy food options available.
Tears for Katir. I predict he will say post race, “ This is destiny and this is the way Allah (The great one above ) decided to play out the race“
he always does that, look at his 3:28 and all of his other races.
I can't believe a 2:25:77 last k and 55 last lap broke a 3:28 man. Katir didn't look good from the start, I can tell you Monaco Katir would have won that race with a big lead on everyone.
Maybe he had to ease up a bit on his doping or something.

How is noone in this thread seeing the obvious answer to how Katir failed here? You're all obsessed with doping, this place is downright depressing. He's been training largely at altitude in Sierra Nevada which has cool temperatures and low humidity. The most likely reason he didn't look as strong was the heat and humidity.
