Fact: Most legit gold medalists don't bomb out this badly in their next games.
Of course, many runners retire after a gold (often because they recognize their own decline).
But has any former gold medalist in the 1500m placed this poorly in the next games? Or ANY event?
A 13-place drop seems like a useful indicator of validity vs fluke-factor of the original gold.
Please, no fanboy promotional whining on this thread. Just answer if you know of a 1500 winner who did worse in their follow-up. Hell, name any winners who crashed so badly. (Or name name those who did better, which is a much longer list!)
