Sound Running meet, mile is scheduled for 8 PM pacific time.
Men’s mile 8pm
Men’s mile also listed at 8:20pm???
Another bad race that consisted of fading the last 400m. I doubt Brooks will give him an extension.
4:03... ouch, not looking good so far.
Back to the ghetto he goes…
Our worst dream just came true?!?!?
I like his channel. He seems like a good guy, but unfortunately he just is limited in talent.
he time trailed that this time last year w ari.
Poor dude. I really have a hard time understanding why they have only had him running 55-60 mpw of 7:30 miles, low volume speed work, and a tempo session. That just isn’t what it takes to get to the next level. I’m somewhat comfortably doing 70-75 at the same intensity, shooting for more like 3:55/4:15. I think he’s capable of putting in more work, whether that be quality or intensity.
Perhaps Spencer’s Achilles heel is the fact that maybe he can’t put up volume without getting hurt. That being said, he’s a 3:39 guy, I really expect he has to be capable of sub 3:55 eventually.
It’s gotta be frustrating to be done with college, and to be stuck mere seconds away from being pro caliber. I feel for the guy. Still rooting for him and not giving up hope.
He doesn't approach his potential in a professional way. He tries to underplay and sandbag but it comes down to really wanting it and doing the daily details it takes to level up. Including...not eating like a 14-year old in a 7-11.
well, got to do what you got to do... breakfast will have to be 5 redbulls for a number of months.

he needs a focused 9 monthswhere he doesnt get injured, doesnt get covid, and is able to race. I will not comment on the brooka program but it doea seem to work for their top guys. But Spence is getting dropped hard in those aerobic workouts. Maybe they are what he needs. Maybe he would be better with more speed based approach.
he needs to buckle down and do one training cycle and see if can get sub 337. otherwise time to move on.
He needs to get off social media and out in some work.
except his old teammate ari makes consistent youtube videos, writes and produces his own music, and is doing exceptionally well. I think spencer is just doing to low volume, and not enough speed work to make his training count.

This. Needs to work more on his raw speed. You're not going to threaten 4:00, or be running 1:47/8 or 3:37/8 when you can barely run 50 for a 400m and are not hitting the specific workouts hard enough

To be fair, 49.x speed has gotten him sub 1:50, 3:39 and 3:59 in the past. He is a sub 4:00 guy already.

Yep. He also had COVID and has had some injury issues. He's obviously not the most talented guy ever, but so what? I hope he gets to keep doing it as long as he wants. I'm a fan of people who are into running...until they give me reason not to be...he hasn't given me reason not to be.
I love Spencer’s passion for the sport. He is a very good runner but has not been able to make the adjustment from college to post collegiate. Getting Covid and getting injured really have had an impact. It is ok to build strength by adding some mileage but in his case he needs speed work. Now you cant do all of this when you have Covid or are injured so that is the dimema.
Also, his race schedule has been f’ed up. There is no flow. He needs to race more frequently.
The truth is success is built when no one is watching and for spencer everyone is watching.
I didn't see much passion or direction from Brooks cross-training while injured. They don't have pools in Seattle? What an hour a day with no real structure on a stationary bike? A professional athlete should be spending up to 4 hrs a day in rehab, cross-training, lifting, something 2x a day. Look at him- he's weak as hell. If nothing else look at thekneesovertoesguy videos and learn how to strengthen muscle groups to run faster. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nhuBzBjWzQ
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
Does not wanting my kids to watch a bisexual threesome at the Olympics make me a bigot?
