And she wasn't even the top recruit in her class.
Mu is definitely a special talent and I hope she continues to get proper coaching and support. Turning pro brings on added responsibilities, pressure, changes, etc... that she'll have to manage. I pray she has a great team around her.

The fact that she progressed like she did at A&M is a good sign. She is truly a generational talent. I’m hoping for a 400/800 double attempt in the next few years (WC22?)… but she could possibly attempt an 800/1500 as well with her range.

Athing Mu will never be a great 1500 runner. She has an outside shot to barely run the 4:04 to get the Olympic standard, but she can't break 4 minutes.
And why even try the 1500 when she can be number 1 in the 400 and 800 plus be on the 4x4?

Mu has no competition at the college level, and you do want to grab the contract money before the window closes.
Let's see an easy Q in a little under 2 minutes.
and a 155 ish or better for the win in the final.
we'll soon see where she's at for the OG.
Good for you Mu. I hope you have legs left and do a better job at performing at Trials than Cambrea Strugis, Twanisha Terry, Tamara Clark and so many other college athletes with superlative times so that you can make it to the Olympics.
I don't understand why she is not also running the 400 meters. There's no overlap whatsoever with the 800 meters, with two days of rest occurring between the 400 Final and the first round of the 800, and she is just as good in the 400 as she is in the 800. Why not double her chances?
You missed the most obvious one, Brandon Miller.
What is falls? I don't think she can run the 4x4.
This girl is going to be the greatest female 800m runner of all time. Her running mechanics and power improved tremendously at T A&M. One more year at T would have been great for her, but hopefully she chooses a good 800m coach. The sky is the limit. 1:54.88 is my prediction for this year. Long term 1:51.50 long term.

Ironically the world 800m list continues to heat up but the 400m isn't budging, top 3 all date back to April.

Who was? Is there a list of track recruiting rankings somewhere? I'd love to look at that.
Milesplit does one. Tuohy was top recruit.

I am a fan, and I hope she has a great career. She needs a great coach and training environment first of all. Let us hope her legs are still fresh enough for the Trials and Games after the long College season..
Jarmila Kratochvílová's WR may be in her range. She may have the potential to dip under 49 seconds in the 400M, if she does that and gets stronger as she matures (she is only 19) then the WR could be hers.
In any case she is well spoken and seems like a very nice young Woman, very easy to root for her.

Athing Mu answered that question a few days ago and she basically said that it was a mental thing. For her first Olympic Trials she just wanted to focus on one race.
It wasn't about if she physically could have doubled. I'm sure she could have. She just didn't want to.

I totally disagree with your predictions. 1:54.88 I think is doable for her at some point in her career, but not this year.
1:51.50? Never.

Fair enough. I can't argue with that, thanks for the answer. Am hoping/assuming that she will be on the 4x400 squad.
That isn't really an answer. I don't want to do 2 events because it is a mental thing. Saying you don't want to is a decision coming from your brain. We want to know why you made such a silly decision. It would have been worth a lot more to a sponsor to have you vying for 2 golds.
