Freshman out of Idaho runs 4:19/9:19/15:49. His single year progression is massive which leads me to think he is new to running. Could be a top talent here in a few years

17 second spread for Farmington! Impressive. It was 42 seconds for Cheyenne Mountain. But in a national race, they'd lose a lot of places at the top, unless they're in heavier training than others at the moment.

On paper, Heemeyer takes 5A and a healthy Athay takes 4A. Both have PR speed ratings way ahead of anyone else in their classifications and both are legit top national contenders. But it will be fun to see who else steps up and I’m sure it won’t be that simple.
The 5A team battle could be really tough between CDA, Rocky, and Boise. All three could be more than deserving to win. Idaho Falls could also be really good if everyone gets and stays healthy, but they are in 4A.
We probably won’t get an update on Athay’s injury until he is interviewed for a track or XC article.
Why on earth does Idaho have five divisions?! Minnesota has triple the population and had two divisions for XC until just a few years ago, now up to three.

Competitive football.
Why would XC have anything to do with setting classifications?

I don't know about Idaho, but in California (specifically San Diego section) divisions are different between sports. Football is based on strength of program and has seven divisions. Cross country is based on school size and has 5 divisions. For track there are no divisions at state, though San Diego section has three.
