Current weather forecast for Friday evening (4/23) is virtually perfect for distance running: high 50s, no rain, very light winds.
However, rain comes into Eugene for the next several days so Saturday's races will face normal Eugene spring weather.
Anyone have any idea what the pacing looks like for the race?

If I were to guess, they’re going after the Olympic Standard which is 13:13.5. I have a feeling Hocker and Teare are just going to sit on the Iowa state duo and make a big move with a k or 800 to go. I think sub 13:10 is possible. When Cooper teare and Cole Hocker are in the same race, special things happen.

Have you watched Kiptoo race?
28 at 200
59 at 400

You make it sound as if the Oregon duo can simply choose to win the race at the end. Reality will be a cold slap in the face for you and the Oregon duo.
lots of other big names too should be a good race, west, sprout, boyden. to name a few

Do you realize how fast the times are that you loosely through out?
No way these guys run that fast. They are there to win the race and whatever that pace might be it will be too fast for some.

Teare has already run 13:16 or 17, cutting 3-4 seconds in 4 months isn't crazy, especially after a 3:50 mile. Really depends on the pace that gets set, and knowing how Kiptoo runs, I'd bet the pace is hot.
Agreed, there isn’t any indicators that suggest that they have slowed down and after the races that we’ve seen recently from the 2 Oregon guys I wouldn’t be surprised with sub 13:15 maybe even sub 13:10.
Assuming they already have the NCAA qualifier from that 13:16/13:31, they would be going for the Olympic qualifier. Teare certainly can get it, maybe Hocker too. Kiptoo will insure a fast pace but lacks the wheels to beat those guys right now at the end of a 5000m. I'd give Kiptoo the victory at 10000m on the track.
Does Thomas think Hocker can qualify for the Olympic team in the 5,000m? I thought his best bet would be the 1,500m. I don't understand the purpose of Hocker running this race.
awesome

Ya I'd be more surprised if they only run 13:35 than if they ran 13:10. I think the likely range is somewhere between 13:15 and 13:25 as long as they have pacers hitting an honest pace early. A good day they could squeak out the olympic standard.
Surely with Kiptoo in the mix the pace won't lag too much. I'll predict a 13:13 with Teare and Hocker outkicking Kiptoo.

I don't think times before some date in Feb or March that I forget count

I’m going to be that Teare and Hocker don’t both run 13:0x. Really going out on a limb.
*bet
I would agree none of the guys in this race will go sub 13:10. Don't think they are on Klecker-level in this event. If you're Klecker-level you're approaching top 10 in the world.
OK, I'll play along... wrote:
