Yesterday in Arizona Newbury Park guys go in the full 2 mi they go 8:57 and 9:04 full mile 4;04-4:15-4:15 in the. Could this be the best one day showing in history by a team?
And to top it off their girl goes 4:48 for the full mile.

The majority of NCAA D1 programs couldn’t do that right now.
Newbury Park is proof that talent doesn't exist. Just the right culture, training, and mindset. It's not like they're a mega school, just a normal school with 2,000 students. So there's no excuse to be slow.
If it's all "talent", then why do they have guys running fast every year? It ain't a coincidence.
Because they have talent. You made no point. Are you suggesting that these guys will be slower than their college teammates when they all are doing college level training? I guess college coaches should steer clear based on your assertion.

This is giving me a headache so I'll make it a little more clear.
2 mile:
Lex Young (SO) 8:57
Daniel Appleford (JR) 9:04
Nicholas Goldstein (SR) 9:14
1 mile:
Collin Sahlman (JR) 4:04
Leo Young (SO) 4:15
Aaron Sahlman (SO) 4:15
Aaron Cantu (SO) 4:22
Girls 1 mile:
Samantha McDonnell (JR) 4:48
The crazy thing is that there's only 1 senior on this list, and most of them are sophomores.

They have a decent chance to have 5 go sub-9 next year.
Yes, Newbury Park is impressive. But, no, they did not run "full 2 miles." They ran 3200. I watched. And check the results. And to the high school twerp who is spamming this board constantly: no, Newbury Park is not a "normal" program and, yes, talent exists. If it didn't, you wouldn't be so slow.

Times were posted in for both distances. The mile and 2 mile times are legit.
Counting last year, they have had 6 under 9:04 in the 2 mile. Colin Sahlman just broke Nico's mile record at NP.
Posted this elsewhere, but Lex might have a shot at the sophomore 2-mile record. It’s Cole Sprout, 8:49 or so.
Here is the Story, FULL Mile and Two mile.

You and "anonymous maximis" (if you're not the same person) need to give it a rest. They ran the mile, and they ran the 3200. They did not run a "full 2 mile." Check the results. Check the video. Check the article you just linked. "Full 2 mile" implies another 18 meters and 3-ish seconds. It was not a "full 2 mile."

You are correct. What was confusing was their giving both mile and 1600 stats and just 3200 .

It’s common to have a split camera and give a 1600m split as they ran a full mile in HS .
The mile is a blue Rubin event and it’s cool they ran the full mile.
And holy moly Newbury Park is fast!

Is this a troll post?
Yes, they have good coaching. But they also scout kids in middle school that have already displayed talent.
If talent is an excuse, give us your name so we can track your rise to the Olympics.

I would, but I value my anonymity. It's my senior year of high school, and was able to go from a 6 minute mile to 4:30 in under a year, so anything is possible with hard work.
Anyone know where NP Christian Simone (Great Oak transfer) is ? Injured?
6-9, you are aware of concepts like - I dunno - VO2 max, body type, etc.? It is certainly possible for YOU to reach YOUR full potential, but, like anything else, potential is a bell curve. Hard work has its limits, and working too hard may prove detrimental.

Go read his posts from the last year and you will get a understanding of concepts.
This is really a combo thing. People tend to way underestimate how much talent is walking around the average school because so few schools train seriously and a lot of them also don't get out many kids. But there is also a reason why everyone in those programs aren't throwing down sub 420 miles.
This argument comes up with every hot HS team. It’s all coaching an not talent. It’s insane.
My question is the CA youth guidelines have banned out of state competition for youth sports in HS, club, individuals, etc. So I’m assuming they are bypassing their HS season?
What is the fallout of not following the guidelines? The whole school removed from
CIF (this was the threat when two OC football teams played before allowed)?
Are they quarantined? They can’t go to school or practice for 2 weeks now? Or they just going rogue?
