Indoor 10k in two weeks? Hopefully they can break the world record of 27:50
I just don’t see how Chelimo can do it UNLESS the shoes and fast track are worth 10 seconds. Chelimo has been a tremendous racer but I have not seen him as a time trial specialist. Nonetheless it is good for the sport and good for you guys for covering it.
So who will be going home devastated? Chilimo or Rupp?
Much like the Australian guy that came up well short of target, I say Chelimo doesn't get it done.
I agree.. he comes up short, 13:12.06
CHHEEEEELLLLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIMMMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

THANK YOU!!
Paul Chelimo!
Where's the link to the streaming video?
(Apologies ahead of time if I'm just dumb and it's obvious. I looked through all the pages and articles I could find, and the email I received about this.)
What's a "typical" banked 200m track angle?
From the article, they'll be setting the bank to 12 degrees for this race (apparently this track has hydraulically adjustable banking, sounds cool and I didn't know that was a thing).

I don't really have an answer but the article says it will be livestreamed on Letsrun.com, so I assume there will be something obvious on the hope page around the time coverage is starting.

He time trialed a 13:08 wire to wire in Sacramento in like 90 degree heat, he can time trial. also he's racing in one of the fastest tracks in the country with good pacing.
seemingly every year multiple people run 13:0x indoors in tactical races
2020:
1 Kipchirchir, Shadrack Nike 13:08.25
2 Scott, Marc Nike / Bower 13:08.87
3 Cheserek, Edward Skechers 13:09.05
4 Jenkins, Eric Nike 13:10.07
5 Bor, Emmual Nike 13:12.53
6 Hughes, Matt Nike 13:13.38
top 4 all closing in 56 or faster
2019:
1 #1 Cheserek, Edward Skechers 13:08.05
2 #9 Bor, Emmanuel US Army 13:10.23
3 #10 Bor, Hillary US Army 13:14.96
2017:
1 Ahmed, Mo Nike/Canada 13:04.60
2 Jenkins, Eric Nike Oregon Project 13:05.85
3 True, Ben Saucony 13:06.74
4 Hill, Ryan Nike Btc 13:07.61
5 Kincaid, Woody Nike Bowerman TC 13:12.22
6 Lomong, Lopez Nike/BowermanTC 13:12.27
only going 8:00 through 3000m
with better shoes, good pacing and fast track chelimo should be able to go sub13
McSweyn did 13:05 basically solo and had to content with wind and cold temps ... outdoors ... indoors, perfect temperature and prep with 12 degree banking ... he's got a chance!
Given his outdoor PR and the Gudaf Tsegay bonus - that let's 2nd tier athletes shatter world records these days - it should be relatively easy to break Bekele's WR of 12:49. He will just be the first to do it because this event is not often organized.

More of this, please.
Citius Mag showing it's not too hard to set up high quality meets. They're relatively new compared to this place. Would be good to see ya'll get more involved in meets moving forward if you're interested in helping to grow the sport.
Also please stay off of your American born nonsense on the live stream. Just focus on the fast running and don't mess this up.
so are we gonna hear a "what about the banking" segment after this? after all, the greater the angle of the banked track, the greater the force towards the center of the track that will be experienced by the runner - so more energy return from their momentum, aka same thing the supper shoes are credited with doing.

No because banked tracks were invented 100 years ago.
hah, but this track will be adjusted to 12 degrees! which sounds like mechanical doping to me.

Why would they do a 10000 Indoors? Why not Outdoors so there is Half as many laps and less going around lapped runners and less chance of not knowing what lap they are on etc?.
