Absolutely demolished Jenny Simpson’s old AR. Anybody know what spikes she was using? Seeing every runner in races destroying old times right now definitely has me questioning how much the spikes are helping

Must be an NB super spike.
Her interview after was great. When asked if she was surprised she responded that she basically expected it. Love when coaches give the athletes that confidence and that she is open and honest.
She is a very tough runner, most of these runners feel pretty confident when they put these new shoes on, look at the records dropping each week.
The shoes are the difference.

It could also be the weird build up. She might have started in say July versus Sept this year for example. It will be interesting to see if people are just running fast early or if they will keep on improving throughout the summer.
I am not too shocked at a 4:17 miler running a 9:10 but it is nice to see her back up that performance. Can't wait to see what she can do outdoors in a 1500/5000 in a real race.
The split times tell an interesting story. Elle's 2nd mile was 13 seconds faster than her first mile 4:42 and 4:28 and change. I've run a lot of 2 miles in my life as that used to be the HS distance but I do not ever remember running the 2nd half that much faster. Can't wait to see the race video
While I am not a major Emma Coburn fan, I was annoyed the announcers never pointed out that she was also well under the old record. And 3rd set a Canadian record. It was all about first place and ignore the rest. Elle was amazing, don’t get me wrong, and was clearly sharp.

The pace went out too slow.

Her mile and 3000 times are now both much quicker indoor than out. Might just be better on a track sloping in?
That popular distance only run in America!
2nd place and didn't break the record. Not worthy of attention.

She basically hasn't run any races outdoors since she ran that 4:17 mile...

She did the same thing last year (dropped 10 seconds on mile 2). She also ran an insanely fast mile last year. Not ludicrous to think it's a little more than just the shoes. Definitely a threat to get on Team USA in the 1500 or 5k. Impressive 3k split too compared to Prickly Pear & to France, considering the negative split & extra distance.
That negative split shows she could easily get that down to a 9:05 or so in a TT style race, probably even lower

Yeah, but it's a distance with some history in the US even if the rest of the world doesn't care. So it's meaningful domestically and good for Purrier heading into the trials, she looks impressive. Tbh, the rest of the world feels the same about the mile as well

A threat to make a team? I'd say she is probably the 1500 favorite and very close to Houlihan and Schweizer in the 5000.
Chuckling to myself that Cory McGee left NB Boston for more intense training and to excel her career (friends of friends words) and now NB Boston girls wrecked all of the Bosshard crew. She wouldn’t even speak to Purrier when purrier started training with them before Cory left. The bosshard crew is into social media and they may be pretty but their performances continue to be less than impressive
Get back to me when she wins an Olympic or World Championships medal. No ones will remember a time trial.

Except everyone who appreciates anyone crushing the record of the likes of Jenny simpson en route to an american record.
It must make you feel good about your 12 minute 3200PB to throw all the hard work going into these records out the door in preference of giving all the credit to some foam even though only Nike has a super spike as of now. Maybe, and hear me out on this, they’re just better athletes.
