Whatever happened to the wonder kid Daniel Skandera that's got every age group record from the 600 to the 5k and beyond from age 6 to 11? There's not a peep of info out there on him for 2020. The kid take up ballet or golf???

No racing opportunities due to COVID. Not a good try by yourself.
Most world age record breakers haven't done much this year due to obvious reasons.
Enterprising people have found meets or races, especially one so prolific as his. His online profile just disappears completely this year, so unless you are truly in the know please keep it down Phil.
Daniel Skandera set his last 2 WRs just before turning 12 last in the 1500m and the mile.
His birthday is November 2 so he still have time to break some WRs before he turns 13!
In the last years he has mostly broken his records in October and even the first of November.
Thank you for providing more guidance than Phil. Anybody actually know if this kid is still running?
If you scan the articles on him, a lot of these records were individual efforts timed by his grandpa with no real proof like records require at an older age. Also, multiple records have been set in the exact same efforts (I call them efforts since I hardly believe many of these records were in what you would think of as a traditional race with a bunch of competitors based on available information). So, there has been an opportunity every day, as they rarely let that stop the family when he was younger. He has rarely won at national meets like many who have almost no records or no records. He is a talent, but the end of the line looms ahead anyway as many of the mid/distance and distance records up through 19 are held by the very well-known Jakob Ingebrigtsen who he would need massive improvement at the now high-end level in actual legit meets to even come close to beating. As he rolls into his teen years, he likely has more distractions and becomes a good high school runner (and maybe runs in college somewhere), but he most likely fades from any total greatness as he started too young (most all child prodigy runners burn out or lose interest). As for Ingebrigtsen, he is in a professional runner family with two older world class brothers to run with that has made significant money in running and who are celebrities in Norway and really also around the world (at least in running). They have the full backing of the Athletics organization of Norway and all their resources and have for years with his eldest running brother having been to at least two Olympics already and Jakob being in performance labs since at least 11 years old. So, this kid will not have that kind of opportunity going forward and any potential international records will be few and far between, if at all.
i was wondering about the same thing. anyone with any updates to if this kid has been running any races / time trials this year at all? first year since he started with zero records
Bumping this thread. Probably an 8th or 9th grader now? No records in 2020 or 2021. I saw some Northern California USATF youth cross country results from this fall with some unattached Skanderas (assuming siblings) but nothing from him. Anyone have any updates? Odds were always that he’d leave the sport but I hoped he’d stick around.
thanks for the bump. i would be interested to knowing more as well.

If he’s in California with no results, he’s probably unvaccinated. Can’t participate in sports unless you have your 4th booster and wear a mask while social distancing on the track.

^This poster is a lying liar.
Let’s get back on track. LateRunnerPhil always seemed to have insight here. Maybe he knows something.
I believe there are 11 siblings in that family and they all run barefoot when they can, often times in races.
Good lord. Sad you lot are stalking a literal child on the internet. Leave the poor boy alone
I am the father of the New Kid on the Block, my son has recently run his first ever 3km in 12.39 (4.13 pace) at 6yr2months, the 6yr old records are now on his targets, watch this space, Heath Hughes-Davies (GBR)
Bump
Is Daniel Skandera update?
Moved to Bismarck…. Now goes by Susan. Long story……
Is he still running?
He back apparently
