I just watched the DL 400 in Rome today andw ith Wayde van Niekerk being a DNS (family reasons - he has to return to South Africa) was reminded how slow the 400 has been this year. This year, the world lead is only 44.91 and only 2 men have broken 45.00. For comparison's sake, 29 men broke 45 last year.
The question I was wondering was this: when is the last time that the 400 world #1 was slower than 44.91?
I oriignally was coming on here to ask if anyone knew as tilastapaja only goes back to 1996 but I have found the answer.
Let's hear your guesses. I'll release the answer at 2:30 pm ET.
