Why do people on Facebook cite Fox News stories instead of WSJ stories or Reuters stories?

Here is a story for you from the CDC. CFR = 0.4 and 35% of people remain asymptomatic yields an IFR of 0.26.

Confirmation bias
Students have not been taught to do proper research for about 30-40 years now. Unless you are a masters or PhD candidate subject to peer review, grabbing evidence and citations from an Internet search or periodicals is considered sufficient to past muster.
Worse? People who use YouTube conspiracy videos as "evidence" of fact on any topic.

Why don't people on Facebook cite academic journal articles?
maybe you should drop all your republican friends
/problem solved
Why do people post biased thread titles begging for attention to how unbiased they’re ?
People don't look for the truth.
People look for stories that say what they want them to say so they can claim it's the truth.
Fox News specializes in stories that will suit this need.
On LRC they cite reddit threads, random blogs, and YouTube channels hosted by average people. In the pre-social media days this would be the equivalent of citing your crazy next door neighbor because their low iq theory matched up with your world view. These days average people get their vaccination information from actresses and social media influencers.
When I first got my phone, fox 'news' was all that showed up. If I clicked on any of it, it would register in Google as stuff I was interested in. From then on, it was a viscious circle. I finally blocked Google personalization so that I could freely check out anything, without Google assuming I had some real interest in it. If I want news now, I just search the news outlet source itself, or just brouse Google News for random crap.
If facebook users don't bother to block fox news, they will keep seeing it and sharing it. I read in Quora that you can't block fox news feeds. Don't know if true.
*I* will cite Fox News (or at least try to) whenever I'm refuting a trumpista's opinion on some subject. If *Fox* and not some lefty rag (you know, like "Business Insider") is telling them they're wrong, they're a little more likely to change their opinion.
WSJ has a paywall.
Why are you under the impression that WSJ is comparable to Reuters?
The New York Times and the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) News Hour seem to be pretty good sources of news to me.
My friends are all extremely wealthy and only post articles from the Atlantic or WaPo.

I especially liked how they promoted the WMDs in Iraq myth that cost trillions of dollars and got thousands killed.
Facebook and Foxnews are among the five or six dozen reasons why this country has lost its collective mind.
Yes, the mainstream media. We get it.
However, we are comparing and contrasting between different news sources within the mainstream media. It sounds like Fox News credibility being called into question prompted you to rhetorically burn down the entire mainstream media house, with Fox News inside. The zero-sum game. They all suck. There's no one to turn to. Truth is relative. etc etc.
Yes, we must be skeptical of our news sources. Fox News has time and again served as an example of unethical reporting practices, and they are rightfully regarded with one of the lowest reputations possible.
The Associated Press and CBS News are really the only non-biased news sources out there.
Looking at the fringes, the left has sites such as Daily Kos and Wonkette.
Equally as fringe on the right is FoxNews.
This is not my opinion speaking. This is based on an analysis of all news services by various research organizations, think tanks, and universities.

Now you have all democratic friends and a constant stream of left-leaning, also biased information. Problem not solved.
