Holy crap you are invested in this, it’s cool man I’m picking up my daughter and enjoying my evening, you do you man.
Bro you got pissed off and called me a moron when I told you that you were wrong. You are clearly invested in this, and now you’re trying to act like myself and everyone else posting on this forum is an internet rat. You were wrong, eat it.
I’m not pissed at all. You are a moron. What does that have to do with cross country? You are an utter moron yes. Stay in school man.

Look at you diverting away from your earlier comments and now resorting to personal attacks. Let's get back to your running argument. What do you think happened to Smith? Why did he drop out? Go ahead... try to avoid a moronic comment this time, if getting called out makes you so triggered.

My niece and nephew attend Kilbourne. We know Ryan Smith, we asked him after the race what happened. He said he went out way too hard and could not finish. He was disappointed.

You are a toxic individual. He’s a kid who is devastated at his result. You ppl should be banned from this site. You represent the cess pool of humanity, he is devastated but you know he just quit. Move your family outta your parents’ basement dude.

Dellasanta ran a 16:21, and he’s usually a solid sub 16. No one else on the team even broke 17, and they’re usually 16:20 to 16:30 guys.
Seems like everyone but Gabelman laid a massive egg. Probably because he’s good enough to overcome whatever mistakes the coaches made.
Very disappointed that I followed them all season, got excited, and then this.
Why’re you hating? The coach just coached a State Champion and led a team to their first state meet appearance in who knows how long. Maybe the team was just nervous cause this is their first time at the state meet. Or maybe sickness was a factor. Who knows but why hate on a coach and a team that just competed at the highest level in the state.
Yeah I was a bit harsh perhaps. I just think they underachieved and didn’t race to their full potential at Obetz. I was also warned by others that they have a pattern of peaking early. So I guess just frustrated to see it happen again. Maybe it’s not the coaches fault, I really have no insight into the cause of it.

He needs mental health support. I run for a rival team and have raced against Kilbourne since 7th grade. I know guys on that team. He's dropped out or quit so many times I can't count. State this year and state last year, Eisenhart last year (when he couldn't keep up with Tommy Rice), Tiffin two years ago, district track 3200, OCC 3200, and that's just the top of my head. He's quit on his team, affecting overall finishes and team scores. And it's usally big meets. He's quit on relays, saying he doesn't want to run 2 races in a day. He practices alone and away from the team at times. It's stupid. What if his team had qualified for today? Would he have quit on them? The pity party for Ryan story is so old it hurts. The guys I know are sick of it too. If you think it's toxic to say the truth then I guess I'm toxic.

What do you have?
All runners go out too hard at state. Most fight through adversity without quitting. Most also end up disappointed. That's sports.
Smith's history of dropping out of (big) races is well known.
On Matt Gabelman's video you can see when and where Smith drops out; it's heartbreaking.
He's going D1 next year for a good program and I hope he can handle it. Best of luck to him.
It is so heart wrenching. 11:58 mark and maybe 300 to go. He just runs off to the side; it doesnt look like a medical issue at all. To me, that's a kid who is not happy where he is or what he's doing. Can he tell anyone? If it's an ongoing thing, who's making him race? I understand his mom is the coach. Is there pressure to win?
Last week at Pickerington he looked so depressed after. All by himself as all other runners came in, head down, frowning. Not cheering teammates or finding others. But at least he finished I guess.
It is so sad. I think he's a kid who needs serious support. If it were my kid, he'd being doing something else that makes him happy. Repeated quitting in the biggest moments are about as big a red flag as there can be. Get this kid some help.
