From the presser it would seem "only" a bit over 40 applied for this position.
Shouldn't a prominent position as this yield a higher number of applicants?
Or is it the case that some felt they didn't have a chance so they chose not to apply?
They will just hire one of the Malones. There have been no real shakeup hires this season. UCLA hires Joanna Hayes from across the street. Purdue allegedly promotes T.Miller to head. Kansas State probably hiring their own throws coach.
With all the turmoil of P4 (P2) football and NIL, I think a lot of these AD don't want another headache searching for an Olympic sports head coach out of the ether. If there's no team calamity then they just promote from within.
Thanks for the perspective @themalonezone, but I was referring to the FSU position. I presume you were referring to the CU position when you typed "They will just hire one of the Malones" given that FSU just announced Matt Kane.
1. Separation of church and state is to protect the church.
2. You can have a women only, black only, gay only, Jewish only, or Christian only organization when it comes to employees.
3. Christian Universities admit any kind of student, including atheists, agnostics, and students from other faiths. Those students may have government funding.
I’m liberal. This is just tolerance.
Ehhh, none of these claims contradict the idea that religious organizations should not receive federal funding. In fact, your first and third points could be good arguments against giving these institutions federal funds and instead allocating them elsewhere.
Unless we have some more dominos fall this is becoming a pretty lack luster summer for jobs. As what’s been said here before, once more of these older coaches retire then you’ll see it really open up.

Just expect many low cost, internal, or nearby hires. ADs have bigger concerns now. We are in the ncaa endgame.
Not Josh Seitz but another former Seminole GA is next in line for the throne. Braman's golden boy returns to the sunshine state as head men's cross country coach & ARP afficionado.
He has his best returning team to his alma mater, and his best recruiting class ever in boys that have run 1:52/4:14/8:58, 4:12/9:00, 4:14/9:00, and 1:53/4:12.
