Adult: go read about the debate over how the USSR ate up eastern europe and whether we should have helped the Eastern Europeans or not. You will find it interesting. Some americans were like you, blaming the West for provoking the Soviets by talking about freedom and self determination. Others felt that it was in the interest of the West to help nations decide their futures for themselves.
ultimately, the 'hands off' people won and tens of millions of people had to submit to the Soviet yoke for 50 years. Which seems to be what you want for the Ukrainians, Belorusians, Moldovans, Georgians, etc.
If you aren't willing to bleed your feelings are useless.
The Soviets liberated Eastern Europe from the Germans. They didn't invade after the war they were already there. The allies decided that it wasn't worth the blood of millions of their own people to liberate Eastern Europe.
You're certainly not going to fight. Why are you so gung ho to send other people's children to their death so you can pretend to be virtuous??
The world isn't a fairy tale. You have to make tough choices. It would be great if every country could choose their own destiny. It wasn't true for Poland in 1945 and and it isn't true for Ukraine in 2022 unless you're willing to BLEED.
The west is not willing to bleed.
There is no debate going on.
Afghanistan defeated the USSR with Western help.
Cuba is still independent with Soviet help.
Ukraine is at the worst in a stalemate, not losing with Western help.
I'm sure there are other examples of proxy wars beating back tyranny.
So I'm not buying your argument as 100% true and automatically applicable to Ukraine.

Debate on.
Afghanistan's your example? lol.. It was a disaster for Russia and a disaster for the US. The Taliban won and now it's a disaster for the Afghans.
Cuba is still independent because Cuba is insignificant so long as the Soviets aren't putting missiles on the island.
Ukraine is losing. Their infrastructure is being destroyed and their people are dying. So long as the war is in their country they are losing. A stalemate is Ukraine losing.
Russia has more men. Ukraine will run out of men long before Russia does. If Putin is determined to stay and no one removes him he's staying. Best case scenario for Ukraine now is Putin declaring victory and annexing Crimea and the east.
The only path now is letting it play out and hope Russia over throws Putin and the new guy is more amenable to being NATO's b*tch.
LISTEN to this guy and his 'nato and the USSR and Russia are all the same evil.' Just listen. I've rarely seen such nihilism at play. Wild.
At no point anywhere have I said Russia and NATO were morally equivalent.
I've said on the global stage might makes right and it does not matter who has the moral high ground.
NATO is absolutely a defensive alliance. NATO would never invade anyone. That does not change the fact that Russia sees NATO encroachment in it's sphere on influence as aggression.
You've sailed the boat into shark infested waters and then punched a hole in the hull. Now you're asking me what I'd do to fix it.
I have no idea.
There are no good options at this point.
The UN is corrupt and broken. Russia can veto any effort they make.
NATO involvement will just enflame the situation.
The only path now is letting it play out and hope Russia over throws Putin and the new guy is more amenable to being NATO's b*tch.
So you are saying that Biden is doing a great job. Given the hand he was dealt, you wouldn't do anything differently. I agree.
He was instrumental in creating the hand... Now you've sailed the boat into disaster and you're slapping yourself on the back for your response to the problem you created... lol.
this picture will raise the blood pressure of every Fox-watching, Q-believing, sedition-curious, insurrection-minded, militia-joining, AR-owning, ignorant as bricks m/ga. Look at it in all its american glory. Look at every face.
agip gets excited about a photo. LOL!!! You should be concerned with Biden's poor leadership and lack of results. The delusion among the LR libidiots is comical.
Here is a dose of reality:
On Monday night we watched discussions with two different subgroups of partisan Democrats assembled by the firm: “Black Base, Always vote for Dems, Ages 25+” and “Youth Base; Always vote for Dems, Ages 25 – 39.”>
Here were a few of their concerns were Biden has screwed up:
A preoccupation with inflation and crime.
Exhaustion with pandemic restrictions.
Cynicism about politics.
Deep frustration that President JOE BIDEN and Democrats have failed to deliver on their early promises.
Sympathy for Ukraine mixed with a lack of enthusiasm for Biden spending too much time and money on the issue.

But you are saying that since the war started, Biden has made all the right moves. Again, I agree.

Not really, he's been too slow on the sanctions. He's leading from behind. He vetoed the Polish migs. He's not leading anything he's reacting to things and he always reacts too slowly.

I'm 50/50 on the MIG question myself. But I would listen to the military experts who say it wouldn't help Ukraine that much and is therefore not worth the possibility it would be seen by Putin as escalatory.
I think the sanctions have happened very fast. It would be foolish to get out ahead of our allies. It's important to present a united front on sanctions.
Here we are talking about war. Life and death. Good versus Evil.
Gary thinks the important thing right now is the polls.
No Fats, these ARE the concerns of democrat voters who are disappointed with Biden's performance. Read the article before making stupid/uninformed comments.

The same military experts who said Russia would steam roll Ukraine in a few days?
Not sure we should be giving them any credence anymore.
What's the difference between 50,000 anti tank missiles and drones and a few planes? Putin is already well aware that NATO weapons are killing Russians by the thousands.
We're over a month into the war and Europe is still paying for the entire war buying Russian energy. That's not a fast response.
If only these idiots had listened to the scary orange man years ago...

I don't know which experts said what. We don't know what Biden was actually told about projected Ukrainian resistance. All we know about are "experts" on the news who projected that Russia would win quickly and easily. But we don't know what Biden was told.
Getting our allies in Europe to cut off all Russian gas is a tough thing to do, but they are coming around. If America was dependent on Russian gas, we would be slow to cut it off as well. Biden is handling the situation masterfully.

The majority of Americans don't think he's doing well at all let alone "masterfully".
A new NPR/Ipsos poll finds that most Americans give President Biden low marks for his handling of the war in Ukraine, and concerns about inflation are overshadowing positive news about the economy.

HERE'S a president. Here's a POTUS fighting for the average american instead of handing out tax cuts to rich people while trying to take away health insurance from poor people while deflecting about transgenders.
This is how it's supposed to work: government lending a hand to support regular people against the powers of big business. Bravo, JB.
