^That is actually a phenomenal idea. Could you imagine? Just 1k in to the race and everyone makes a mad dash for 200m to grab the point.

I don't think this will be a fast weekend, unfortunately.
Mostly smaller meets and all of the fast individuals just raced at the U or other out of state meets. I think next week will, at least it has historically, been the week where most people start running their faster times in preparation for qualifying for conference.
That said, we need at least someone to nail a good 800m. I saw that Bjork ran a 1:56 last weekend, that helps a lot with the depth of the event. We also need a good front runner for the 3k, someone mind doing that real quick this weekend? Thanks.
Sean Bjork is BACK, BABY!
I like the Devil's mile concept. Last person after each lap gets pulled off the track
Looks like this is a big weekend for racing. Bethel is hosting a meet at their lavish new indoor facility. There are some big time DII teams competing, so we'll see if they can drag some hometown heros to national qualifiers. Rumor is that Gallardo will be gunning for a school record this weekend as well. On MIAC!
No Bugler at Macalester last night? All in all, a quiet meet. Hindwood got beat in his debut, interested to see if he pulls it together to compete for points in the steeple outdoors.
The DCG and Fredrickson battle was a disappointment. Fredrickson got tripped up early on. Jerry still looked pretty good. Hopefully they run against each other again soon. Otherwise, there wasn't a lot to report from the Mankato meet.
It only adds to the drama. I'm freaking pumped. Can you imagine if DGC lost to the Gustee won?? HUGE.
There is a chance DCG and Fredrickson could have another shot to go at it again next week at the meet of the hearts. If Fredrickson can stay on his feet that is.
Or Frederickson officially joins his teammates in underperforming ALL track season.

When did people start disliking the gusties so much? Most of the cross season it seemed like everyone as rooting for them to beat Olaf and now almost every post mentioning them is extremely negative. Did they get too cocky or something that I missed?
I wouldn't say it's dislike as much as our tendency to categorize people. Same reason for all the generalizations about teams that are based on individuals from that team. A few Gusties do poorly in Track (compared to XC) and suddenly people attribute that to the whole team.
Are ALL St Olaf jv guys cocky about just being there? Do ALL St Johns runners do bad indoors? Are all Carleton runners weird? Do all Augsburg runners run 10 miles over the summer? No. Well maybe that last one. But we categorize the whole team based on the things we observe.
So Frederickson runs well, and a lot of people expect it to be a flash in the pan, because they don't believe that he, a Gustie, will run well when it matters.
^ That is about right. Obviously no one actually dislikes anyone else in the MIAC, minus one or two guys, but overgeneralization are continuously made. It's all in good fun(ish).
I mean let's face it. Hurt people, hurt people. Obviously some Olaf JV guy went down with a stress fracture and is taking out his frustration on the boards by beating up on distance quad perceived as the greatest challenge to his own.
Oh, how the times have changed.
Damn 393 people voted on that?

Regarding your name: You haven't been here long, have you?
I think he might've won the WIAC poll as well.

Besides the "O" going up too soon (was that even him?) I don't know what he's done to deserve being called douche. He's seemed really nice and humble the one time I spoke to him.
There's no question that it was him, and you must have only talked to him once. He's nice enough, but the more you talk to him the more you learn how great he is.
Regardless, he graduated. Why are we still talking about him?
Any fast races coming up this weekend?
Paul Escher is entered in the 1k and 5k at the Tommie so those races will be pretty fast I'd guess. Any predictions?

Probably nothing too noteworthy will happen there. It was a great meet last year... for Olaf and non-MIAC schools. The same will probably happen again.
I hate that I was right...
Great races from the Oles, especially in the 5k and 1k. Also really cool to see Sathre take the W in the 5k.
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
Does not wanting my kids to watch a bisexual threesome at the Olympics make me a bigot?
