Is Vail eligible for NCAA outdoors?
Real success of these races is really only this.....no dude stepped out with an AK-47 and sprayed the entire lead pack of some race! YET. Heard the terrorists ran out of gas money.
Why would Tim Nelson turn down this opportunity?
When you have guys like Tim Nelson brushing off world teams...there's a problem with the mentality of our top runners.
I know, what's the story with Nelson? This should have been a great opportunity for him.
So what would have been our A team? Meb, Abdi, Rupp and Ritz? Good enough for 3rd possibly?
This really should have been on network tv. It may have had low ratings, but no worse than plenty of other obscure sports on television.
Sadly, what it would take is some sponsorship money. Was it New Balance that was offering a million to the next American to break the US marathon record about 8-10 years ago? Maybe someone should offer the U.S. team $1.x mil to win the next Worlds. That would generate some interest.
Yes, Americans winning World Cross Country would generate as much press as an American record in the marathon.
Thanks for this. There seem to be at least two other equally intelligent ways to decide this. 1. Highest finisher among the first four. 2. Highest fifth place runner.

611 TECHNICAL MATTERS AND REQUIREMENTS (EXTRACT)
611.5 Scoring – ALL RACES: teams of six runners of whom four finishers shall score. Each race shall be scored separately.
The team results shall be decided by the aggregate of places recorded by the scoring competitors of each team. The team with the lowest aggregate of points will be judged the winner.
In assessing the aggregate, no adjustment to the scoring placings of the finishing teams shall be made in respect of any non-scoring team runners or of individual entries.
Any tie will be decided in favour of the team whose last scoring member finishes nearer the first place.

I agree. I mean the guy has nothing to his name and instead of representing he is country, he's getting ready for what? Mt. Sac?
The Kenyans would be embarassed to have you as a citizen.
Instead of running in a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, they'd rather run 2 seconds faster in a 5k at mt. sac. Embarrassing.
What the hell kind of world championship scores fewer runners than a high school meet? What happened to the good ol' days when they ran 9 and scored 6?
