There may be additional forms of training that pros adopt but how many international level distance athletes run only 25-40mpw?
As stated earlier, you don’t actually know how many miles Valby is running.
One of Valby’s competitors at the games will be this year’s winner of the NYC Half-marathon, who sometimes runs 60 miles/wk, but that is not all of the training volume the 34yr-old Euro Champ completes in a week.
We know what she is running from what she has said. About 30mpw.

Is it any wonder that someone with 30000 posts on this forum is wrong about a lot of things?

Like when he adamantly argued running on a treadmill is cross-training?
He’ll probably be arguing for another year about Valby’s training based on something she said last year, because he somehow feels it necessary to enter every Valby thread and interject nonsense no one wants to read.

So where has she said she now runs more than 30mpw and has cut back on the arc trainer?
I mean, it’s great that you want Kelati to be at sub 30 level, but the reality is that if she were that, needing a kick to barely beat two runners that had already logged two previous 5Ks wouldn’t even be required.
....
Weini isn't a kicker and her main purpose was to put herself in position to make the team and than go for the win. Time will tell if all three Americans stay healthy, who will end up top American and closest to sub 30 minutes.
Valby is even less of a kicker than Kelati and had already run two 5Ks. I’m sorry, but Kelati does not win the race if Valby and Sweitzer run that race fresh. Not happening.
Weini already had the Olympic standard that noone else has; to therefore, no need to push the pace. If she wanted she could have run away from Karissa and Parker. Remember THUS YEAR Weini became
5000m...............6th fastest American 14:35
10000m.............6th fastest American 30:33
1/2 marathon.. AMERICAN record (I'm her debut) 66:25
