What do you guys think, will anyone even try to run with Valby tonight? The only two I can imagine doing so once Valby puts her head down are Olemomoi and Roe, but it almost burned her when Roe tried in the indoor 5k, and this is twice the distance in warmish weather, and Olemomoi hasn’t done it historically and might save the effort for the 5k on Saturday.
These are my predictions:
1. Parker Valby 2. Hilda Olemomoi 3. Taylor Roe 4. Chloe Scrimgeour 5. Molly Born 6. Grace Hartman 7. Paityn Noe 8. Amaris Tyynismaa 9. Rosina Machu 10. Sydney Thorvaldsen 11. Jenna Hutchins 12. Andrea Markezich
Winning time: 31:15
I’m more excited for this one than the men’s 10k, without question.
At this point, you've been educated by his father, no less, about his health and reason for his staying at the back of races, and you're still not backing down. Time to take an internet detox and think about what kind of person this is making you into.
Not sure if he's done with the pole vault yet, but based on his pr's at javelin (58.99) and the 1500m (4:40s), and his current score of 7600+, he has a shot at 9,000 today, as the above scores add up to close to 1400.
Agree this one is more exciting than the men’s. I think Valby will win handily and my only question is if she decides to go after the standard tonight. I’m leaning toward that she doesn’t but it would be pretty cool if she did. As an Iowa guy, will be rooting extra hard for Noe!
Yeah, that’s what perplexes me a bit. Does Valby need the standard tonight? If she goes for it, she risks possibly over taxing herself for the 5K not to mention the trials in 2 weeks? Seems like she is taking on a lot by doubling AND going for the standard? I would prefer to see her save herself but who knows?

Yeah just because his dad says it doesn’t mean it makes sound logical sense. I mean, as of now my initial comment criticizing RH’s tactics has 33 upvotes and 0 downvotes, and because his dad showed up to call me an idiot and inform us he has a health issue you want me to shuffle my feet and say “erm, excuse me Mr. Rheinhardt, you’re right, your son couldn’t have positioned himself any better.” I’m not trashing the kid for underperforming in college. He could and should have positioned himself better.
I think I’ll ignore your self-righteous advice and comment on this thread about 27 times in the next 5 hours, if I want to.
Leo Neugebauer just set the World Decathlon Best in the Discus with a throw of 57.70m. This is the first time anyone has ever scored over 1000 points in the Discus during a Decathlon competition. 1032 points. He is now at 6646 points after 7 events. 949 points per event. If he gets equivalent marks to his personal bests in the last three events, he can get 9009 points.
Next WR holder. If not this year, definitely next.
He's got the OQ right? I can't imagine Germany doesn't select him so why wouldn't he basically walk the 1500? I know he might want the CR or 9000 but in an Olympic year that seems like an unnecessary risk.

How is this more exciting than the men’s race. Valby is just going to front run and be way ahead of everyone else. That’s the definition of boring in a 10K. The men’s race had tons of drama, a fall with 900 to go and came down to a kick, where one of the dudes who fell got up and outkicked the field of 10 guys.
