So how many miles does Valby run, and what types cross training does she do? What is your takeaway from her training that could make you a better runner, coach, and person?
How does chasing Aaron Rodgers make you a better football player or coach or person? 99% of fans of sports do it as a release from the real world. Fans worship their teams and athletes. Fans don't play or coach. And taking time to be a fan takes away from time that could be better spent.
I don’t know what to say to you. People shouldn’t worship a 22 year old girl no matter what they have accomplished. You may admire their achievements, but that’s about it. Go out and do an easy jog yourself. Life is good if you can simply focus on yourself.
The problem is that we are all fans of the sport. Most of us expected her to be doing some races and running 15:00. But we really don't know what training she is doing or when she will race or if she plans to race at the trials.
Trials start 8 weeks from Friday. When is it time to get worried? You figure she'd want at least one if not two rust-busters before then.
If you dont see her at at least one of the LA Grand Prix or Pre Classic then its probably time to worry she wont be ready for Trials. At this point id still say its not a big deal. But with two more fast US meets available a month out from Trials you'd imagine she would jump in one of them if healthy.
Actually, she is not auto qualified. She will get in but she has not hit the standard. The qualifying window opened July 1, 2023. Her only race within the window was USATFs last year where she ran 15:15. Auto qualifying time is 15:10. With a field size of 30 she will get a slot, though.
I personally don't think she will run. I think NCAA Cross may have been her last race. Didn't someone say she bought a house in Raleigh? I expect she will be named an assistant coach at NC State soon and they will use her name for recruiting purposes. I will be surprised if she runs again; I will be stunned if she continues after the Trials.
I listened to the Coffee Club podcast today (guests Theo Quax and Luis Grivalda) they said Flagstaff is packed now with distance runners, everyone altitude training, trying to time their peak for trials. I recall Tuohy mentioning she was gonna train in Flagstaff for a month with Mike Smith. I would think she'd be there soon.

Why so negative? Why would adidas sign her then? She will race.
I would not be surprised if she debuts at the trials. I know that sounds crazy but if she is making a slow recovery anyways why not. Maybe throw in a 1500m before that. She doesn't have the standard but if she is not back in shape yet why chase it.
I have to admit as a fan I am just very skeptical that staying at NC State with Henes will help her reach full potential. But when you look at what is happening with Cranny, BTC, the other teams - not a lot of great options. At least her competition went to altitude though.

I hope you are right but I doubt it. A month won't do too much though.
