Coaches today have to figure out a way to satisfy the hobby joggers/parents while not negatively impacting a competitive team culture. Especially when everything is a no cut sport in this day and age.

You point out a single athlete. The vast majority flame out very early in college, if they make it that far.
I coached at a New England college for 21 years, retired in 2021. I can only recall 1 Saratoga runner coming to our school in that time. She was not a top runner for Saratoga, did a different sport in the winter. She did fantastic in college on the D2 level, 2x qualifier to NCAA XC Nationals.

I suppose I’m questioning whether they actually did shove a kid (sort of believable) or drag them behind a truck (not at all believable). C’mon, if they found a doctor who came to the conclusion that runners shouldn’t be running year round then they easily could have made up other accusations.
Why are distance runners, whom compete in one of the toughest sports, so apt to report or side with accusations of abuse? I guarantee the football players have had their fair share of physical and mental abuse…lock those coaches up as well!

Or at least conduct a fair investigation and follow through with enforcements. 35 years of complaints? 35 years of saying "yeah we'll get to it"? This wasn't one helicopter parent. This wasn't one soft kid. If allegations build and build through the years, usually there is something there.
The whole "they should just deal with it and be tough" mentality only protects people who abuse. An extreme example would be the Larry Nassar case. Nassar also had a boatload of allegations through the years. The Police, CPS, USA gymnastics, MSU Gymnastics, Twistars and the Karolyis all knew about it. All heard complaints. All did nothing. Then it all blew up.

The school superintendent made a statement yesterday that there was absolutely nothing wrong with tying a student to a car and having sprint to try and keep up with it, so I don’t think anything is happening to the Kranicks.
Based on the donations and the comments, I would say that Art and Linda have positively impacted a lot of people through the years. Baseless is a word that comes to mind for this trashing of them. /thread

lets see it all started in 7th grade everyone knows that he cant teach science.. then there was the whole your not injured run it off... then that really annoying voice screaming pick it up.. but ide have to say that if were were a non distance runner u were on their bad side 99.9% of the time so pretty much if ur still on the team at saratoga high.. well that sucks stick with kearns or spackman good luck"

Plenty of abusers have people who will support them. That doesn't mean they should not be held accountable for the people they hurt.
