Not sure that was the real Josh Kerr. In the Swiss broadcast, the announcer said that "George" Kerr was pushing on the back straight before JI took off. Does Josh Kerr have a fast sibling or cousin?
Told Norwegian media his legs weren't super fresh, but that it felt "okay". Legs still responded well, but didn't feel great. Still in a training block in St Moritz
I dont think you can even beat Jakob in the 5k by going fast. It's pretty clear he is in WR shape in the 3k, and I don't think it's far off to say he is also the best 5k runner in the world.
Jakob can be defeated at 5000m. You take Jakob I will take the field. He is not invincible. Not even close.
Jakob can be defeated if several guys try to prevent him from controlling the last 1k. If they let him, he will crush them
Jakob will have his work cut out to end up as decorated an athlete as Mo Farah though. Remember Mo ran 3:28 and was a 4 time Olympic champion and 6 time world champion, plus two World Championship Silvers.
Mo didn't have any competitor like Kiplimo, Cheptegei Girma etc
Remember the super spikes are a factor here. Mo Farah was facing real competition certainly including at times Cheptegei, Kejelcha, Hagos etc.
Jakob really has to walk a razor's edge to win like this. He has to basically max himself every race to stay ahead of big kickers. The difference from 3:28 to 3:29 is nil. There are enough sub 3:30 guys right now that it just takes one small slip up, like we saw with Wightman
Oh dear! If Mary "slowed Keely up", then Keely should have been able to blast the final 300m ( which was the strongest part of her race at the OIympics and the World's. ) No, it's clear - very clear-to see that Keely has a "head problem" with Mary.
I don’t think you understand 800m racing. It’s hard for most athletes to accelerate dramatically unless the pace is way slower than they’re capable of, which it wasn’t through the first 300+ meters. Keely tried to force the pace on the backstretch but Moraa matched her and denied her the pass. Then Keely ran extra meters on the final curve and it’s not surprising she didn’t have another gear in the final 100. Sure, Paris may have been a better day for her, but it’s incredibly obvious that Moraa’s tactics dramatically affected the race and Keely’s finishing time.
Are you crackers? So Keely ran 2.5secs slower than Paris because of tactics? Get real.
Mo is no Jakob, as we just saw again. If they get 1000-1500 out and Jakob is not at the red line, by by to the field.

C’mon. Mo ran during a relatively weak sauce period. so he could rack up some wins. Look who Jakob has to deal with, no comparison. You seriously going to argue that Mo is anywhere near the talent of Jakob or that Jakob will not end up being considered the far superior athlete. It’s not that close now, and it certainly won’t be close at all when Jakob finishes.

Did you not see Aregawi today? That guy is the best 5k runner in the world.
He is not unbeatable, but the thing is that he is consistently performing well. I would not be suprised if kejelcha or aregawi did a terrible next race, that has happened multiple times before.

Mo Farah, without superspikes, ran less than one second slower at 1500m than Jakob has so far. The reason you say Mo Farah had weak competition is because he dominated them.
I don’t know if he’ll ever get the wr, but in this 3:27-3:29 range Jakob’s just too strong for any of them over the last 150. He’s unbeatable now, or very close to it.
The strongest contenders were not in this race, but yes it’s a big hill to climb for them. I do think one of Tim, Reynold, Nuguse, Katir will make him sweat in the last 100 of the World final.
Jakob was laboring a bit today it seemed, still in the last 100 he’s a beast. The man not only has freakish physiology, but I think he’s mentally super strong. I know Rojo hates talking about the mental stuff, but I think it matters. Jakob is a winner and to beat him now you literally have to race him into the ground. I’m not sure if the other big talents like Nuguse have developed this absolute toughness yet. Jakob is not going to crack.
Once again, Jakob showed that his kick, while not explosive. It seems the way to beat him in a championship race would be to force him lead the whole way, make him do all the work, then hope to nip him at the line.
