I see, Seidel raced a UTMB event meaning there is no or very little drug testing or else a sanctioned race would have caught her Adderall drug use. Guess Seidel is now an ultra-runner because I don't see WADA allowing her to use Adderall in competition because it has such enormous performance enhancing capabilities.
Facts. Complete BS if she’s allowed to compete on adderall.
Another thing to ponder is that Seidel beat a lot of women in the SpeedGoat results list while she is taking Adderall that gives her a big performance advantage. Isn't this what Camille Herron and Derek Murphy call a "cheater" in their terms, like what they insinuated that Ashley Paulson is? Are those two going to drag Seidel through the mud like they did to Ashley?
Fair enough, but then she loses the shoe sponsorship that none of us have as well. This is her chosen profession. She needs to deal with this.
Deal with what
I think they are referring to the original posts: She dropped out of the world championship marathon 2 weeks before the event due to injury; she then has an instagram post saying “slowly getting back into weight bearing…”; and then completed a challenging trail run days after that post. She could do whatever she pleases but we are under the impression she might be interfering with her recovery. The events don’t make sense and a brief clarification would be nice for fans.
If Molly Seidel wants to enter nothing but trail races and fun runs, for the rest of her life, she can damn well do what she pleases. Plus, if she never races a pro-running event again, she'd already have accomplished more than 100% of people on this thread.
She won a race. Even the Olympics are just a race. People on this thread may never have accomplished winning a race but they very well could be doctors, lawyers, engineers, and a long list of much more meaningful accomplishments than she did. Contributing to a study that leads to a new drug during grad school is more of an accomoshmemt than winning a race. Heck, raising a kid that is a functional adult is more of an accomplishment than winning a race.
It is impressive as a sporting achievement but meaningless in the grand scheme of life.
The few in here that are somehow trying to contort this into being a healthy form of cross-training/rehab have never done a serious mountain race. Maybe you could make an argument about something like the Pikes Peak Ascent or other uphill-only race, but I assure you that descending on loose, uneven terrain as you do on a course like Speedgoat is a hell of a lot more detrimental than beneficial to an athlete trying to rehab an injury.

The few in here that are somehow trying to claim some sort of control over Molly are completely off-base.
Molly is a grown woman who chose a highly visible profession. It would be absurd to expect everyone not to question this race given the information she has made public pertaining to her health. It would be doubly absurd to place a grown woman on an untouchable pedestal, only to be reveled in times of glory.
Re. the point about running under a pseudonym. You guys have seriously never entered a local race as "Dick Pound" or "Harry Cox" just show it'd show up in the results and some poor sap would have to announce that name at the awards ceremony?
I ran road races all throughout high school and only used my real name during the summer months. Supposedly my high school eligibility was at risk if I'd run a road race in-season.
Any of the three could be true and I still don't know why she would choose to run in a public race with a fake name. If she wanted to get a solid trail run in, she easily could have found someone to run/guide her on a similar workout without any publicity. Irrespective of whether it's shady or deceptive, it's just a bizarre decision.
Her boyfriend was photographing the event and she was out there on a trip with him. If I had to construct a scenario around what we know, it sounds like it was a last minute decision to run just because she was there and it seemed fun, and that she thought running under a fake name would avoid publicity and the "official-ness" of having the result attached to her name. Seems just generally poorly thought out
I think this is the best theory right now. I hope this is right. Idk what to think will be interesting to see how she responds

Correct, sports have little intrinsic importance beyond whatever importance we choose to give them in our heads. That's all the more reason for people to let it go.

Doesn't matter that Molly thought it would be "fun". Molly Seidel placed eighth amongst the women while doped up on Adderall and Running Magazine has picked up the story:
A lot of us figured the injury was to hide the fact she failed a drug test and couldn’t compete . If you are so injured, why race a long trail race and risk further injury?? I hope the truth of her failed drug test comes to light and she gets the mental and physical help she needs

More importantly - why would Puma want to be associated with all of this? I think Puma is an absolute joke for sponsoring this nonsense.

Is she signaling she is a Ben Shapiro stan? If so, I’m out.

Why do people think she failed a drug test? If anything, her TUE either is still in limbo or was rejected, and she knew she couldn't compete at World's until she got it sorted. If that's the case, then I 100% would understand why she would choose not to publicly address that in real time, because that's between her and her healthcare provider to make some choices. If her TUE is rejected, she would have to decide either to change medications so she can continue to compete, or to quit the sport so she can stay on her medication.
Why can't we all leave her alone and let her do her thing until something is announced?
