https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2021/04/pandemics-wrongest-man/618475/I would love to see the author and Berenson have a debate rather than Berenson being told he can't express his views.
I would LOVE to see Rojo and Wejo come out in support of vaccines and public health. INSTEAD, they do backflips to defend Berenson and go out of their way to point out the flaws of those who support facts and science, as in vaccines.
pathetic
I'm not doing backflips to defend Berenson. I personally don't think he should be banned from expressing what he has expressed on twitter.
I am vaccinated. I think the data shows the vaccine is very effective against preventing severe death and serious illness and think this is the message that should most be emphasized instead of that the vaccine means the end of covid because then skeptics point to the Israel or UK data.
Look there is a huge percentage of the population that is not vaccinated. To get them vaccinated I don't think you say "Take the Vaccine and covid is over. There are no issues with it. No discussion allowed". These people already are questioning it. Telling them they can't ask questions is not more likely to make them get vaccinated.
Please tell me the "Science" that I haven't supported. Science isn't one set of facts. It is analysis, questioning, and hypothesis. What I don't do is look at everything in a vacuum. I do not believe 0 covid is the end goal.
Last year I would have argued pretty strongly that the science supported sending kids, especially young ones to school in person. Would you agree? But this really isn't about "science" it's about cost, benefits, and risk assessment. Treating a 10 year old and 80 the year old the same in terms of covid is nuts.
For example now, there are a wide range of opinions on whether masks need to be worn in schools. Is it anti-science to say that I don't think young kids need to wear masks in school? Somehow this view has become political but many other countries are following this path in terms of kids and masks.

I don't know much about "The Unkle" but am not going to put too much weight on some random guy on a message board. No offense to him.

Huh? This is YOUR message board. Your entire job is to moderate people like him. If you don't care, then who will?
This is extremely obtuse and disingenuous, especially because you, and ESPECIALLY Rojo, go out of your way to yell at the top of your lungs about Dems you disagree with.
pathetic
We absolutely should have sent kids to school last fall if the schools had spend the time and money to set up testing and controls to mitigate outbreaks among staff and kids. Most schools didn't... so you cant just throw kids and families at the wall. Lots of people screwed up, getting kids in school should have been a critical priority in the wealthiest country in the world.
That being said, in the absence of very solid data (another failure), doing "cost-benefit" analysis with exponential functions is very difficult. Erring on the conservative side makes sense.

Wejo, you spent the entire morning writing a Strawman Essay instead of doing what, exactly?
At the end of the day there are plenty of better people on Twitter who both “own the libs” but also care about Americans dying. Yes, you can have it all.

Greenwald is generally pretty astute in his writings even if you think his absolutist positions on free speech are problematic. But the post about risk benefit is his worst argument ever. The reason we tolerate the very high toll of motor vehicle accidents is because that risk was forced upon us by a collaboration between the auto industry and the US government. While every other modern industrialized nation was building rail infrastructure in both its cities and across the countryside, the US built the interstate highway system, often smashing to bits once thriving minority inner city neighborhoods. Public transportation is infinitely safer, uses far less space, pollutes less and is far more convenient and cheaper than owning and operating an automobile. But in most of the US, people never actually had a choice.
And that is actually a more accurate picture of the debates of COVID restrictions, vaccines, etc. in the US. In most of the south, people have no choice. We just have to do our best to protect ourselves and hope that we don't trip and fall down the stairs when the ERs are full. The Biden admin has surrendered to state control over COVID responses from the get go. The option of truly effective COVID responses (fast testing, isolation/contact tracing, mandatory vaccines, fast response to outbreaks with social distancing measures, high quality N95 or better masking available to all and required in all situations where people are in crowded enclosed spaces, etc.) have not even been an option at all in the US. Instead, we are all fighting tooth and nail over the most moderate of responses (masks for kids, vax to go to restaurants, etc.). And we have been forced to accept that as being the playing field much the same way people were forced to accept personal automobiles over mass transportation.
Everyone is allowed to have their own opinions but not their own fact
Lol. Your moderators delete all sorts of things, including active discussions, in the interests of making your forum what you want it to be. Why do you hate freedom and the free exchange of ideas?!?!?!?!?!

It's simply a thing. Never heard of this guy and I don't use twitter.

Which ISP banned him from the internet?

You and your brother, and the Gault guy for that matter, pretend to be journalists, but have no common sense or real life knowledge.
Seriously, one would go far to see a more inept motley crew.
Guess what? Twitter is a company, they do not owe anyone 'freedom of speech', they can set the rules. If you don't abide, they can ban you or whatever, it's their commercial decision.
Same as you can , and do allow trolling, you even do it right here with this thread, and you suspend, ban people, allow trolling, but you complain about Twitter...how dumb.
If the Berensen guy wants a platform, there's numerous conspiracy site, right wing sites, Murdoch's Fox News, wherever that will be happy to have them.
You , yourself don't have to use Twitter, they are not imploring you to do so, they don't owe you explanations.

Well, for wejo the options on what to do are limited. He hasn't ever worked, so there isn't that. Reading a book - don't even joke about that. Basically, the has to choose from napping, watching TV and if he is feeling extremely ambitious - trolling.
