A note from Renato to everyone:
As Moses Mosop and Florence Kiplagat were the first couple winning Trials together, and I hope Moses can win WCCCh (if not destroyed during the official Training Camp, the head coach Julius Kirwa never used fast lon run longer than 1 hr, when I use several times 20-25 and also 30 km, but Kirwa says Cross is not Marathon....), I send you their program from Nov. 2008.
As you can see, I use now to analyse, for groups of speeds, the total mileage in each week, and of course at the end of every month. This analysis can easy indicate if the global training is going to increase the level of specific endurance, and this happens when the percentage of km in the specific class (for example, Aerobic Power) becomes higher.
You can provide to upload these files, so some letsrun reader can satisfy his curiosity.
Best regards
Renato

reading over some of the files i noticed that there is no 'long run' in their training. is this the norm?
hopefully renato can reply
There are, in fact, several "long runs" in the programs:
Sat, 15.11
2 hr progressive run (last 30’ fast) (22 + 10 km)
Sat, 22.11
15’ warm-up +
30 km in 1 hr 36’44” flat course (3+30 km)
Sun, 14.12
1 hr 40’ progressive run (30 km)
Sun, 21.12
35 km hilly climbing (Iten – Chebara) in 1:58’39”
(20’20”–37’06”–53’05”–1:09’56”–1:25’54”–1:42’47”–1:58’39”)
(20’20”–16’46”–15’59” – 16’51” – 15’58” – 16’53” – 16’52”)
