You'd be hard-pressed to say what "The Democrats" wanted to pass. The way congress works, individuals say lots of things and propose lots of legislation they know won't pass. I think you have to go with what laws are actually enacted to say what they really wanted as a group. Same for both parties.
But going all the way back to our original discussion, there is little doubt that the deficit has done much better under Democrats in the past several decades. And also, Democratic-controlled congresses have tended to follow the "pay as you go" rule a lot more than Republicans.
Democrats tax and spend.
Republicans borrow and spend.
Did you just take some crazy pills?!? You just said the deficit has done much better under Democrats in recent years. Hello, Fat Hurts!!! The deficit for Biden's first year (2021) was $2.8 TRILLION! TRILLION! That is the second highest EVER. The only time it was higher was in the Covid year. Under Trump the deficit was never $1 trillion. So you tell me ... who is doing a better job on the deficit - Biden and the Dems at $2.8 trillion or Trump and the Repubs with the deficit never topping $1 trillion? Again, are you taking crazy pills?
As I said, the Democrats have done much better over the past several decades. You really need to work on that reading comprehension thing.

Fat Hurts - we have something now called the internet. We don't have to go down to the local library to verify or disprove outlandish claims that people like you make. We just log on to the internet and voila! your spurious claim be shot down. Like this ..
President Obama had the largest deficits. By the end of his final budget, FY 2017, his budget deficits totaled $6.781 trillion over his eight years in office. That's a 58% increase from President George W. Bush's last budget.

Correct! agip refuses to face facts. The deficit has soared under Biden.

Baloney Russia Trump collusion story, and guess what?
The Federal Election Commission has fined the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign for lying about the funding of the infamous, and discredited, Russian “dossier” used in a smear attempt against D...
Yes, I said "no one could witness the last 12 months and conclude Democrats are the party of fiscal restraint." That also includes things they tried to pass but couldn't. You could argue two Democrat senators showed admirable fiscal restraint, but they practically got kicked out of the party for it.
You'd be hard-pressed to say what "The Democrats" wanted to pass. The way congress works, individuals say lots of things and propose lots of legislation they know won't pass. I think you have to go with what laws are actually enacted to say what they really wanted as a group. Same for both parties.
Are you saying Biden, Harris, Schumer, and Pelosi don't speak for Democrats? They all wanted trillions more in spending than they got. Hence like I said, no one could observe the last 12 months and think Democrats are the party of fiscal restraint.
And if you're arguing it only counts if it's actually enacted, then how can you say Democrats tax and spend? What tax increases did they successfully enact?
Butthurt Trumper logic: This fine for miscategorizing an expense item is proof that the substance of the dossier is fake and trump did not collude or rely on russian help to win. Genius!
Wait until you hear about what Ginny Thomas did on Jan 6, or the RNC paying trump $35k in "rent", etc.
That's it tzees, you spend all your efforts on Hillary and Hunter who continue to be irrelevant while we will stay focused on Trump who is without a shred of doubt going to be your party's nominee. Let's see how that works out.
it's just so sad when Republicans choose to ignore all evidence and fact and decide that Republican presidents are better for the US economy. I mean you might as well believe that sitting on the couch all day makes you a better runner. The evidence is indisputable. Just search 'are democrats or republicans better for the US economy.'
You people are just children believing in Santa and the tooth fairy. Grow the F up.

interesting fact that ginny thomas received $700k from right wing organizations and justice thomas neglected to list any of it on a formal disclosure form. Until he was caught.
interesting fact that trump asked our primary military foe, Russia, to kneecap the sitting US president. That happened this week.
You boys find any of this interesting? Or are you still all 'Dems are all about power?'
you call can look at this and see that Obama had the deficit under control until Trump blew it up.
Now you can see that Biden is trying to undo the trump-era damage, and the deficit is falling. But trump did so much damage, it will take while to fix.
the real fear is that the Rs will win in 2022 and 2024 and simply give away all this revenue to rich people again. which has been proven to be a failed strategy, but maybe Santa is actually real.
I'm not sure we have the data because we don't have a full fiscal year under Biden. The fiscal year until September 2021 counts as Trump's budget year because we were still under Trump's budget. (Yea, I know we were under a continuing resolution instead of a clean budget, but that's how this stuff is counted.)
Certainly, the covid bill contributed to the deficit, but I'm not sure what the actual numbers are or how it all comes out for each administration.

You sure talk butt hurt a lot. Is that your thing? Straight from Putin, via Ukraine with Hunter’s blessing:

They say lots of things. Look at what they do and not what they say.
Democrats have enacted many tax increases in the past several decades. That's why they were labeled the party of "tax and spend".
But Republicans are worse. Republicans are "borrow and spend".
trump actively worked to damage this country. Trump is STILL actively working to damage this country.
because of him and his rubes, the US is no longer the #1 goal nation of immigrant talent. Kiss goodbye to future teslas, googles, intels and the like unless the rubes are beaten back. Say goodbye to having enough workers, for pete's sake. At least biden is trying to get more immigrants to come here after the trumpist damage.
Alec Stapp @AlecStapp Immigration is America's superpower, so this should be raising alarm bells for policymakers: The United States is no longer the top choice of foreign talent when asked where they would move for work.

Parties are judged by what they currently advocate, not what you claim they did in the past. And their actions of the past 12 months indicate they want to spend trillions more and not increase taxes.
hey remember when the WH permanent employees refused to give jared a security clearance because he had too many red flags? And then his dad forced the clearance to be given to jared?
Good times. Trumpism managed to combine nepotism with national security threats.
trump always worked against america and still does.

"In sum, it appears the best way to judge the economy under a given president is to consider its performance relative to the economic trajectory that president inherited. Over the past 44 years, there have been just three notable outliers — Clinton's overachievement, Obama's underachievement, and Trump's overachievement, all relative to their inherited trajectories. ..."
"Obama's first term was an outlier in the other direction. Since 1976, every presidential term that began with an unemployment rate between 7% and 8% ended up seeing the economy add between 6 and 10 million new jobs over the course of those four years. The only exception was Obama's first term, during which just 1 million jobs were added; in fact, the unemployment rate rose slightly, from 7.8% to 8.0%. Even adjusting for the severity of the 2007-2008 recession, this was the weakest economic recovery since the Great Depression, widely missing the jobs and economic-growth benchmarks set by the White House as well as the CBO, Federal Reserve, and blue-chip forecasts. The economy grew at an average annual rate of just 1% over those four years, peaking at 2.6% in 2010."
"Those who highlight the budget deficit falling from $1.4 trillion to $585 billion between 2009 and 2016 overlook the fact that Obama's own stimulus law inflated the 2009 starting point. Additionally, by January 2009, the CBO had already projected that even if the new president were to do nothing, the recession economy would recover and drive the deficit back down to $264 billion by 2012. Instead, Obama signed legislation cumulatively adding $5 trillion in debt over the decade, inflating annual deficits well above the long-term baseline levels that the CBO projected in January 2009 and slowing the deficit reduction that should have come from the economic recovery."
There is a familiar narrative that Democratic presidents bring economic growth and job gains, while Republican presidents bring recession and job losses. And in fact, 10 of the 11 recessions that have taken place since 1955 o...
