SW should get two spots before Franklin. Valor crushed Franklin at Nike Portland XC. Niwot crushed Valor at St. Vrain Invite, Colorado Powermerge and NXR SW.
Franklin had a boy that was sick there and another that lost his shoe in the first 800m that didn’t pull out of the race when he should have. Besides, it’s clear those teams are moving in opposite directions at the moment.
I dont get y Franklin is ranked so high. Vestavia SE 3rd has better times than them and Vestavia is getting faster every race.
Franklin is getting faster every race, too. Look at speed ratings and spread between the top teams. Vestavia got crushed. Franklin actually looked like they somewhat held their own.
The Bob Firman/NXR course is known as a tricky course. They averaged 15:50 on it, 5 seconds behind the winner. Vestavia averaged 15:58 at WakeMed, 29 seconds behind the winner.
Lay off of the Vestavia hype dude. They finished 7th at Jesse Owens and then way off the win at NXR Southeast. They are so far down the pecking order on at large spots.

Yeah SE only deserves the 2 this year. I'm way more impressed with a couple of the individuals (though a few chose not to run at NXR) than i am from any of the teams outside of Belen Jesuit.
NP averaged 15:21. The next set of best teams were 15:47, 15:48, 15:48. The course was dry and fast. Looks like it could be wet again this year.
cba and Belen are absolutely in the mix still. If 15:21 at nxn is a 15:50 at bowdoin, cba averaged a 16:07 in September at bowdoin which puts them right around that 15:35 or so based on that.
15:35 at nxn would be crazy fast as you said, but depends on the conditions and the day. Most teams don’t have their best day. I still think comparing teams to what NP did is a mistake…
Good thing nxn is right around the corner to sort this all out
And Belen raced NXR 2 days after the state meet, and some of their guys were sick according to an interview

Hopkins did it back in 2015 when they qualified for NXN. They took 7th there
And Hinsdale ran the same Downers Grove turkey trot hard last year before finishing 8th. Not to mention the California teams that run state, NY/NE regionals or anyone else in the midwest who runs Footlocker. Not that uncommon or strange, and, in fact, a pretty good idea to stay sharp.

Agree, Southwest could have four teams in the top 10 at NXN. Niwot boys placed 4th and they are the second fastest team in Colorado history based on state meet results. They should absolutely get 4 bids.
I'm worried they will look at Niwot's age and justify not bringing them this year assuming they will make it next year.
This makes me wish that Orem had a 5th runner close to their 4th. If they had one, Orem would have taken 4th place at NXR. Most of Orem’s team is seniors
